Takuma Sato after completing his first pit stop was set to pass Coulthard for 9th in order to continue his charge up to a surprising 3rd.

I've re-watched the Indy race recently and Sato was on fire that day. Also it was evident the Michelin tyres had problems already, before the Indygate, both Alonso and Ralf crashed.
