It's honestly quite refreshing to see a non-code masters F1 game, they all seem to slightly blur together at one point. So bringing back this older game is pretty entertaining. Especially how they decided to tackle the game in a different way from code masters, such as actually having the player control the pit crew

On the warm up lap, you can get the tires up to 90. And that makes a good difference on the race, specially on the start. Just slow down as much as you can as the cars open a gap from you, then you accelerate as much as you can, steering as much as you can, and when you reach the corner you hammer the breaks, steering as much as you can. Do it for the entire warm up lap and you'll get the tires in a good temperature. It always worked for me.

Playing with a pad is a pain in the arse at times but I've managed to learn to find the exact points I need to stick it on the Codies games. Because like you I was flicking the stick (lol) too much at tracks like Silverstone, Melbourne and Hockenheim but by using it as precise as a wheel I've been knocking a second off my times. Takes a while to get it nailed but the results are fantastic

To be honest your engineer is quite right to tell you again and again to warm up your tires because when you arrive at your grid slot they are pretty damn cold. When I was playing that game back in the day I think I had my tires up at like around 70/80...especially the rear tires. And if you do that you will still have at least some temperature left for the start

Hopefully I'll get noticed this time: in Q3 you need to burn as much fuel as possible early on in the session, and then have a crack at the closing minutes. That is what real-life F1 drivers do back when this was the qualifying format.

IMPORTANT ADVICE you have to brake really hard during the formation lap and when braking hard turn the wheels right and left in order to warm the tyres. By doing this you will have worn tyres and incredible start to race. And dont make too much gap between you and back so your tyres wont be cold when race start.

Two things: 1 - to know what cars had retired, look the colors on the pit: red means a ferrari, blue and yellow means renault, red and white honda, blue and white williams, etc 2 - the 'lag' on the times is because of: when you pass a 'sector line', the game 'gets your time' (I don't know how to say this), and the difference between you and the other cars remain on screen for 10.4 sec, so, if you get passed or overtake another driver close after the 'sector line', it'll take time to update the positions

yes, it is tricky in this game, you have to wait 2 or 3 laps afte the weather changes, then they give you automatically the right tyres, if you go to early, they will give you the wrong tyres

Ben you can have your tires warm at the end of the formation lap You only had to drive slowly until the 200 last meters of the formation lap and then brake and throttle in the same time during those 200 last meters You'll have a 100C° on your tires :) (sorry for my bad english it's not my native langage)

The number on the bottom left next to the garage emblem is the number of laps of fuel you have left. In the beginning of the video you did run out and that can lock the rear wheels of your car.

Spa isn't in this game. During 2006 the bus stop was getting re-constructed into the modern bus stop as we know it today. Was such a shame as I played this game for so many years and was dying to race around Spa... Was biting at the bit when Codies finally released their game.
