I am one of drivers who drive the trucks from race to race. I was in Imola on Sunday and then over to Monaco on Monday. Its complete madness trying to get into Monaco. All trucks park well away from Monaco.

I can imagine the chaos. Must be a logical nightmare for you guys. Makes the Imola paddock look spacious in comparison. I had always heard there was an area for the trucks nearby and that they ferried everything back and forth to the pit through the tunnel under the palace. This was 15-20 years ago when the pit area was much smaller though, so maybe it’s different now. How far away are you? I assume you have to transfer all the cargo to smaller trucks to then get it to the pits.

That’s cool. 😀 I have a friend who did that for Red Bull and Marussia a few times. We were both born in the village where they now make the Mercedes F1 engines. There’s a bit of F1 and other motorsport heritage in that neck of the woods, I mean, our dads used to do banger racing together at Brafield 😂

Back in the day before the current pits were built you could walk through the old pits and get up close to the garages and cars. I also remember in 2005, when the current pits were open, Red Bull had their mechanics dress up as Star Wars ‘Stormtroppers’. We were high up in stand T and had a great view of them. Great memories. The Monaco Grand Prix may not be the best Grand Prix but it is the best Grand Prix to attend. Must get back again soon!!! Thanks for the video and bringing back fantastic memories. 👍👍

You are correct regarding the fee due to the dock master for dockage during F1. However, the dock master will also advise you that if you want to be on the “front row”, you will need a letter from an F1 team or an F1 sponsor …. Which can be purchased, but that amount is much higher.

On MY Loon live docking video they stated that they will be docking for the entire week. Loon is around 66m and they claim the mooring fee was around €110,000 for the week. They had to apply 12 months in advance and prove they would have a connection to the Grand Prix either hosting a sponsor or a driver. They also stated that Formula 1 takeover the whole harbour hence the prices go through the roof.

I DID know about the general size of Monaco. Husband was Navy and his ship spent some time in Monaco. He served as Ships Translator in France and Monaco when the Brass discovered he was fluent in French. And for fellow sailors when they found out he could speak to the locals. He gave several tours on the ship and spent some time in Monaco, coming back with numerous tales of his escapades. He told me quite a bit about Monaco, including its size.

Great video, as usual! And let's face it, Monaco is the Crown Jewel that it is, because it was THE original grand prix race - the organization did not even exist when it was first held in 1929. On top of which, it is the only race where wealthy people can watch the event from their own balcony, or better yet, the aft deck of their own superyacht. And of course, like everything else about Monaco, it certainly has a unique mystique about it, doesn't it? Geoff Rohde

I was a vehement Vettel fan, but this year I'm barracking for LeClerc.
