I must admit I’m sad to see Monaco diverging from the Indy weekend. Having both races on the same day was always really exciting (for me at least - maybe not for anyone around me who doesn’t enjoy motorsport quite as much!)

I think part of the appeal of watching Monaco for Americans who don't watch a lot of motorsports in general is that it leads into Indy and would think they will lose these casual fans being on a different date.

Monaco GP never clashed with Indy 500 for TV race fans as the races are in different time zone. The race “weekends” will always clash as Indy 500 is a two week commitment with qualifying lasting all week, just like Le Mans, which is why there was a gap to the Monaco GP.
