@@mikahu3050 it was a miracle hamilton even was in the race for the title
@ramusxd2 жыл бұрын
@@Lamster66 Yeah so you're actually in the wrong there mate. Mercedes have had the best car for the better part of the season, starting in Silverstone. With the introduction of the stiffer rear sidewall Pirelli's Mercedes was able to create a much more stable platform in pretty much every other race where Red Bull didn't have a clear advantage because their car suited the track better (e.g. Mexico). The other tracks however were much more suited to the Mercedes. It's just that Max didn't make any mistakes that ultimately would have cost him the championship, and the fact that Lewis has had lady luck on his side for a lot of moments where he should have arguably been losing out, is mainly the reason he was even still in the fight. The main difference being, that Max did everything he could and had to do in order to maximize the race result week in week out, whereas Hamilton and Mercedes dropped the ball at times where they should have ran away with points. The most clear examples being; Imola: The red flag was waved at the most opportune time for Hamilton after he made a mistake and was dropped more than a lap back, resulting in him being able to fix his car, and end up in P7 at the restart. Next being Baku. Where Max was unlucky to have a tyre blowout while comfortably leading the race, thereby losing a 10-point increase in his championship battle gap. At the restart, Lewis was about to close in on Max with 25 points, but Lewis himself made the mistake to hit the brake magic button and therefore threw away 25 points. Next up we have Silverstone, where Hamilton made a mistake by not properly judging the amount of grip he would have going into Copse corner, ultimately missing the apex by what is in that sharp of a high-speed corner an absolute mile, as well as not being in front of Max with his nose at the apex, meaning Hamilton was 100% to blame for this accident (check Driver61's take on this). In result punting Max off, and being rather lucky to not have been served a drive-through penalty, especially for an incident of this magnitude, and instead got a 10s time penalty he could serve during his inevitable pitstop, as well as being able to (again) repair his car during the red flag, as he would have had to retire after the shunt with Max if it wasn't for the red flag he himself caused. Moving on to Hungary, where Bottas went bowling at turn 1, Lewis was lucky not to get hit by the resulting shunt, but was also lucky to have his main title rival being very negatively impacted by the shunt. Furthermore, Lewis and Mercedes made the mistake to not pit lewis after the restart, therefore putting him in a much worse position to fight for the race win, resulting in him only recovering to third when he clearly should have won that race with ease. Not to mention the fact Vettel got disqualified afterwards promoting Lewis to P2. On to the remaining tracks, where apart from Mexico, Mercedes and Lewis were the ones with the fastest car, but Max and Red Bull being on another level in terms of strategy and raw pace at the tracks where it was still relatively close (talking about the Netherlands, where Mercedes should have won the race with 2 cars against 1, COTA where Mercedes ware faster in quali and race trim, but Max ultimately took the win because of superior strategy, where again Mercedes and Lewis seemed to have dropped the ball on a track where they should really have won) Max seemed to get on top of his car better than Lewis could, when it truly mattered. Max and Red Bull made far less mistakes, Lewis and Mercedes, finally having some real competition this year, cracked under pressure I'm sure a lot more than they would have liked as well. I like discussing with people who have different opinions about the season, but you cannot ignore the facts stated above and the fact Max won in a season where he ultimately shouldn't have, but did because he pushed the other driver and teams into mistakes they wouldn't have normally made themselves. That's what I think makes the result to this exciting title battle even more satisfying, as the underdog dethroned the so-called "goat" (statistically at least, yes) of the sport, and deserves full credits for his feat.

Even if Lewis didn't get his 8th wdc and even when redbull overspent to keep up with that monster of a car Mercedes f1 team had, even when both red bull cars where taken out by one Mercedes driver in a race and the FIA was not perfect, somehow the combination of all this chaos created the perfect storm and gave us an adrenaline rush that we f1 fans will never forget.
