if I remember correctly I saw Nico in a talkshow on german tv after his wdc win were he spoke a bit about why he retired. I didn't tune in in time and its a while ago but if remember correctly he said something along the likes of really having the dream of becoming a world champion but knowing that he wouldn't become the best of all time, outscoring Schumacher and so on and that he was under immense pressure even before the start of the season and suffered from that but just wanted to win a championship or something like that. Some people say that he ultimately surrendered to the pressure and I can see where this view comes from but in my opinion that makes his achievements by no means smaller but maybe even greater. He knew his biggest problems/"fears" and he faced them and not only overcame his opponents but himself to achieve his biggest goal. After he won the Championship he already was a Formula One World Champion, it doesn't get any better for almost all racing drivers or athletes in general then ultimately becoming the worlds best in their sport. So he retired with the biggest achievement he could imagine. That sounds more theatrical than i imagined but sums up what I personally think about it. He knew he couldn't become the best of all times (more than 7 WDC's) so he retired being the best of the season, far more than most drivers ever come close to. I was not even a Nico fan in that year but I highly respect the decision to leave on a high than to drag himself along for a few years, achieving maybe one, maybe none other title in god knows how many seasons instead he now is with his family and can go to races when he wants to, not when he has to

He held station in Malaysia 2013. Ross maybe feeling he had enough chances to pass Lewis and failed each time. Bottas, contrary to popular opinion always puts himself in this predicament because of his race craft. Remember him holding back against a crippled Seb in Spain I think.. he just doesn`t have the speed, hence he falls away in the championship and enters the `help your teammate zone`. Which is not the same as when Ferrari told Leclerc to hold station in Australia of all places. Charles answered this nonsense with his driving.. Something Bottas has never done. Remember 2017 or 2018 Hungary? Bottas moved over, Hamilton failed to catch the Ferraris then he moved over for Bottas. Why because it was still early in the season. Peace

Well in this situation it was the only chance for him to win the championship so of corse he did that... honestly why is everbody always complaining about hamilton team orders are bad/dumb and everything but if you fight for your result its also not okay? Indeed he is, win at all costs is a phylosophy I understand, but then where is sportmanship? NIco enjoyed his championship win, and Hamilton could resume winning after, I don't understand why soreness is transferred to his fanboys, he keeps winning, can we all just move on?
@adityag4854 жыл бұрын
@@rpgrap6461 The reason people complain is look at what Mercedes does to Bottas and did to Nico there are times he will be in the race lead and James will force him to let Lewis pass so he wins the race and championship and he was willing to do it to be a good teammate but look at what Lewis did here its not about fighting for your result in this situation that was his teammate who has helped him win championships before but when it is time for u to return the favor he fails to do so and also look at him when he loses and Bottas or Nico wins he turns into such a sore loser but when it is the other way around they are so happy because they want the team to win, like its more the shoe is on the other foot scenario plus look at the fact at how James always plays favorite to Lewis and then he's like we will return the favor but they never do case in point letting him pass in Sochi
@rpgrap64614 жыл бұрын
Aditya G i know what you mean im a bottas fan but in this race this was the only chance for lewis to get the championship and it was a team vs team fight not a nico vs seb/max fight so its clear that hes slowing down... and its also pretty common and okay to let a mate pass if hes faster (like alonso with massa or hamilton bottas often) its just not fair to do it like schuhmacher (if you need to let him past before the finish line) and its also pretty common to split the strategy (its maybe not fair for both but its the best for the team) its just really unfair if you do it like ferrari with kimi or if hamilton says he want to box they pit bottas because of that and then you stay out and push for an overcut
@leafboy44374 жыл бұрын
@@rpgrap6461 well what he did was justifiable , but in this case lewis himself told the team that he would never perform such a move in the team meeting before the race. Moreover he always keeps complaining and does not feel the same if he looses which is just a dickish move. Also if nico wanted he could take hamilton out of the race along with him by a crash and he would still win it , but he did not attempt it.....so class is something not everyone possess

I doubt that. I like Nico more than I like Lewis and even I can admit, to come up like Lewis did and be a WC must have been amazing feeling. He grew up not white, not rich, and no father in F1 to teach him anything about the sport on that level. You know he was told he could not do it by some... He probably heard it all his life at every level. Nico has a F1 champ father. To him I bet it was expected in the back of his mind.
@harveys78694 жыл бұрын
I completely get why he retired after one works champ. He proved he could do it, job done. I suspect Hamilton wants to prove he’s the best ever and that’sa much much longer slog. @@hyperslow3810 that's why nicos job was harder. Lewis had the luck nobody expected him to become a great driver while Nico had to struggle with the expectations in the shadow of his father. And by the way: The way you are saying Lewis was never white is the real racism. Saying so is putting focus on skin color. What disadvantage dis Lewis have because he is not white? None. And that is what is has to be like. Instead of talking about skin color again and again and again we should live together in harmony without assuming racism in everything. Just like Morgan Freeman answers the question how to end racism: By not talking about it everytime.

Is it, really? During these last laps when Lewis was slowing Nico down into Vetel and Verstappen, he must have realized that Mercedes can't (or won't) control Lewis, and that he'd always get priority. It was an easy decision for him at that point, and I fully understand him. It was also an unbearable situation: had they continued next year and Lewis won (which was much more likely, considering the treatment he was getting from the team), Nico would have to stay and listen to b.s. like how he wasn't actually as good as Lewis. By deciding to retire then and there, he'd be forced to listen what a coward he is and how he should defend. There really wasn't a good solution to this. But I am ultimately glad for Nico and how things turned out. He did leave a mark in F1 and I wish him to have a great life together with his family.
@sujaysannyamath6554 жыл бұрын
It's pretty clear that Lewis had more natural talent and was overall a superior driver when he really tried. But in 2016 Nico clearly had better preparation and that year hard work and dedication triumphed over natural genius. Lewis, undoubtedly would lkhave come out hard against Nico the next year and Merc couldn't really do much about it. So, after achieving his lifelong dream, he decided to retire on a high than take the immense pressure of defending the title against a raging Hamilton and ending it in disappointment.

Nico Rosberg will go down as one of the greatest. Retiring on the highest note in your career is such an incredible move. Just respect for this man. Nothing more Nothing less

Equal relibility, Hamilton beats Rosberg in 2016. Straight facts

Nope, and even if he did he came off much worse

Lumikami like what? In 2014 Hamilton was again unluckier than Rosberg but still won it. In 2015 Rosberg had more reliability problems but he was nowhere near Hamilton, in fact Lewis won it with 4 races to go that year, he dominated Nico performance wise. And then in 2016 Hamilton had problems in like 7 weekends( spa, russia, china, monaco, malaysia, baku, bahrain) whilst Nico had absolutely NONE.

Nico is such an underrated talent. In fact he is one of the modern father-son duo to have won the WDC in F1. The other one is Damon Hill. Kudos to winning WDC in Hamilton's winning spree of 7 WDC.
