Good work man. Gauges look great. I wish they could still make mechanical injected diesels. Im not a fan of the new emission diesels. Too expensive and too many problems with common rail.
@caseymogensen25798 жыл бұрын
Nate Figueroa, Thanks for the compliment! I like the mechanicals as well but the common rail engines are real animals, to be honest if I had the choice between a mechanical 4bt and a common rail I'd probably had chosen the common rail cause their quieter and run much smoother along with have more power stock than the stock mechanical 4bt. Plus the tuning capabilities are endless being able to tune and reflash the ecm along with modifying the engine. I honestly wrench on these engines all day and the problems they may have are actually very minor, just like any other engine they all have their weak points. Yes the emissions stuff is a pain but you can always get it deleted or if you have a new truck then it's under warranty and you don't have to worry about it. I've seen big power come from both mechanicals, HEUI systems and the common rails and I'm a fan of all three whatever their issues may be, I'm not biased lol

Moges Diesel, Excuse me but i dont speak english very well. Did uou means the trans are a 4R70W? In my country we have a 2.8l LSD international 135hp@3800rpm and 38kgfm@1400. This engine is capable of work with 5r55e? I think to put the TPS sensor in the VE pump and to put the Crankshaft sensor in the diesel engine to send the signal of tps and rpm to the engine and trans module on the xplo work on this engine.
@caseymogensen25798 жыл бұрын
garciapepe,Yes I am running a 4r70w trans behind this engine. So I'm going to give it a shot and try to translate what you're thinking of doing and it sounds like you want to take the 2.8l out and install a ve pumped 4bt and just swap the tps and crank sensor so that it will communicate with the 5r55e like you still had the 2.8l still in front of the original transmission. I think I've got that correct. I thought of doing that when I first started my swap but then figured out quick before I started to hook it up that transmission shift mapping is going to be much different because each engine has a different torque curve than the next and the transmission probably won't respond comfortably with the engine during light throttle shifts and wide open throttle shifts. For that reason I invested in a standalone transmission controller from pcs to custom tune the trans to the engine. I hope this helps you.
@LOOSOTL8 жыл бұрын
No. I want to take out the 4.0 v6 and after instal the International 2.8 l4 ve diesel. You cleared my mind about the auto trans. To this work goog with 5r55e and the 2.8 ve it need a lot of money, time and skills. I think when i start the swap i chose the easily way and put in the xplo a complete assembly. 2.8 ve whit her Eaton 5 manual gearbox and tcase. Its pull of from a ranger and plug play in yhe xplo.

@Apedraza288 жыл бұрын
Right I appreciate you getting back and if I may ask. Why you mean about it depends on how it goes on my build if you could explain please.
@caseymogensen25798 жыл бұрын
Adrian pedraza, it all depends on modifications to the engine and trans that you'd like to do. You can go with a manual or an automatic and that's a large money difference there along with if you buy a torque converter or clutch depending on the trans. As far as the engine it depends on if you get a different turbo, upgrade the injection pump, lager injectors, buy an electric lift pump like Fass or Air Dog, and other modifications you'd like to do. How expensive your build will be all depends on your personal preferences on how far you want to take the build.

What did you do to the gauge cluster? What transmission adapter did you use? And how did you make the oil pan clear thanks.
@caseymogensen25798 жыл бұрын
Travis Mackmer, the gauge cluster is an Autometer cluster from Summit, the trans adapter is from Destroked and is for 6bt to 4r100 gas the housing patterns are identical, and the oil pan had to be notched minimally to clear the front diff and by minimal I mean very little so no oil capacity is lost.

Is your motor a newer one with the PCM? did you have to incorporate the 4BT's pcm with the ford's? I'm just curious how that works. Great truck btw, love your build! How' well does it tow? tks.
@caseymogensen25798 жыл бұрын
John Henry, The motor that I swapped is a mechanical 4bt with a P7100 inline fuel pump. The electronic 4bt engines are common rail engines. All that had to be done was to get the Ford sensors installed on the engine so that my dash would function as it did when it was stock. My last step to take with the truck is cruise control but for that all I need to do is get a cable run from the cruise motor to the fuel pump throttle. But the truck does tow really well, just like any other truck you can feel a slight load behind you when it's heavy but other than that it has plenty of power, and always gets people turning their heads.
@johnhenry13958 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Moges. I'm hooked! I gotta have one of those! To your knowledge, are the electronic, common rail motors similarly swappable (I'm thinking into a Ram 1500) ?
@caseymogensen25798 жыл бұрын
John Henry, It'll just be a little more electronically challenging is all but anything can be done. To be honest one of those engines would be fun to swap especially if it has a Cummins ecm, that way all you need to do for some more power would be to have a shop reflash the ecm for a military, industrial, or marine flash file.

I want to do a v10 swap in my 96 grand Marquis will it fit in my car and would it be to much power that car.

Any vibration from the 4bt? Just seems like it would vibrate the truck. Want to do a 4bt in my 95 f150. Any answers would be appreciated
@caseymogensen25797 жыл бұрын
Austin Day Auto Photography, it does vibrate but I have soft mounts and a high performance damper so it calmed down a bit but I don't notice it too much anymore.

is that Cummins a lot heavier? and if so did you have to beef up the front suspension
@caseymogensen25795 жыл бұрын
J.A.E 1979, No the truck still has the IFS. The engine is only 200lbs heavier. Which would be like standing on the front of the truck with the v8 in it

I would love to do a 4bt swap into a Tahoe or a Suburban. I'm looking for something that is huge (family hauler) that won't be towing, but has an efficient diesel in it. You think it'd be possible to do it for under $25k?
@caseymogensen25797 жыл бұрын
I believe it could be easily done for under 20 even 15k. It all depends on if you'll be the one doing the work and if you have other plans with the SUV such as any paint or other body work including interior.

Did you have to change the trans or axles? Does it have alot of power? Looking at swapping my 92 f150.
@caseymogensen25796 жыл бұрын
eagleman, Trans is the 4r70w and has been built. Axles are all stock but I did install a locker in the rear diff just for fun. Check out some of my other videos such as the Dyno pull and the Sled pull. Truck has a lot of power especially torque compared to the 5.4 I had originally.
@robertsteele22865 жыл бұрын
What transmission did you use? I have a 98 f150 4.6 and a 4r70w trans. Looking into do a swap like this.
@caseymogensen25795 жыл бұрын
robert steele, sane trans just had it built and a lower stall converter
@CentralOregonShenanigans7 жыл бұрын
hey im in the process of doing the same swap and was wondering what torque converter you used or if you had yours re stalled to thanks
@caseymogensen25797 жыл бұрын
Jim JFR, it is not the stock converter but instead a custom one I had built by destroked. The stall speed is around 1800 rpm. Good luck on your build!
@caseymogensen25797 жыл бұрын
It was $1,375 and had one free stall change if I wasn't happy with what it was set at.

what exhaust manifold are you running ?
@CentralOregonShenanigans7 жыл бұрын
and also what style oil filter setup do you have thanks.
@caseymogensen25797 жыл бұрын
Jim JFR, 6bt 12v center exit manifold cut down to 4. The oil filter housing is the 6bt vertical housing with a 6bt filter.

Why not do a forced air intake on the hood? Looks beautiful in that engine compartment.
@caseymogensen25797 жыл бұрын
TheBackpackcountry, Good idea, I was going for keeping the truck as stock appearing and subtle on the changes I wanted to make. I'll be doing another video soon for HP and TQ numbers, bit I have changed my intake since this video. Thanks for the compliments!

I love the gauge cluster where did you find that?

Moges Diesel I have a 2004 F250 that I'm putting a twin turbo P pump 24 valve in and I know the F-150 clusters are similar to The Superduty clusters
@caseymogensen25797 жыл бұрын
kameryn kranski, I'm not 100% sure if they wire up the same but I can't imagine they'd be much different, best idea would be check out yours and compare it to a 150 in a junkyard or such but then you'd have to figure if the plugs are the same is the wiring?

I have the same truck in a single cab short box step side just sitting in the driveway it runs but haven’t used it is about 6 years and been toying with the notion of doing this to it or buying something new. I don’t possess the skill nor the time to build it though. I think you may have made up my mind with this one. What gauge cluster are you running? because that is so much nicer than the stock cluster
@caseymogensen25796 жыл бұрын
Jarrod Henning, I’m glad I could be a good influence! The gauge cluster is from summit racing made by autometer. I don’t believe summit sells it anymore but I’m sure someone out there has one. Where are you located?

@@caseymogensen2579 Sorry for the long time on the reply I'm a long haul truck driver and forget about things easily lol. I live in mountain home Idaho. I know theres a place in Montana that does these conversions for $20,000.00+ . I'm still juggling the thought of spending that kind of $ on a truck that's 20 years old. However I do see the benefits of doing so over purchasing a newer diesel pickup.
@caseymogensen25796 жыл бұрын
Jarrod Henning, No worries, the way I did the swap was very detailed plus my cost doesn’t include paying any labor. This swap could’ve been done cheaper if there wasn’t detail thrown into the exterior like I did. But I guess that’s the way it goes. I did benefit from the swap. For myself it’s all about having something that sets yourself apart from everyone else. I do, do the swaps personally if you’re ever interested in having one done or know of someone interested in doing one. Thank you

@caseymogensen25796 жыл бұрын
Liquidisata, Haha well thanks, I didn't spend nearly as much to get the fuel mileage, but as one of my play vehicles the mileage is one of the perks of driving it.

Hey I love your truck. I have a 03 4wd f150 I want to do a swap in. did you find an adapter plate for the 4r70w? and mine being 4wd will it be more of a challenge?
@caseymogensen25798 жыл бұрын
matthew lee, The adapter plate is from Destroked and is described as a 4r100 gas to 6bt adapter plate. My truck is 4wd as well and it really wasn't difficult to overcome but I did have to slightly notch the oil pan for clearance of the front diff.
