I'll tell you what the switch was - the pandemic. @junkyarddigs and his buddies were (and remain) a good hang during the pandemic. At a time when the world was getting really really really crazy, here's this guy (and his girlfriend, and his buddies) that's looking for broken things and fixing them with his brain and some brake fluid. It was really soothing to watch, and satisfying when you got to the first start of the engine. Brilliant format, great channel.

Came here for JYD! I’m just a working father who enjoys his videos. I’ve been subscribed for some time. I didn’t really know much about cars, engines, nothing but thanks to people like Kevin, who offers education with his videos I can at least change the oil on my own now. Even brakes! Great podcast. I wish nothing but success for the JunkYardDigs channel.

The farm equipment revival is also captivating and inspiring, def what makes the videos is the cast tho. They could rebuild old bicycles and we'd watch. The Grand Prix grand Prix is also awesome

Ames Iowa is popular for these things because its cold as hell 8 months of the year and 100+ the other 4 It sits on a river and as most smaller cities the industry has left and there is nothing to do.
