On today's show we're flying the E-flite F4U-4 Corsair 1.2 Meter Wingspan .
This is its first flight of the season . It needed a small repair to the landing gear from last year . Guling didn't work so I relocated the mounting screws a little further back and it good now . Pics in the video .
Thanks as always for watching .

Nice your able to make repairs to fix it. Such a great hobby. Ever think about putting a camera on these to see what kind of footage you get compared with a Drone.

Hey Philip, very nice flight and landing with the E-flite Corsair! I really enjoy all the 1.2m planes and trying to make them seem a larger scale! Thumbs up!

Thanks Fred . Yeah I like that too . And it's a manageable size , cheap batts . The 1.5 M P-51 is "Extra scale " in their terms . And compared to other 1.5M planes its massive too .

Good job flyin that Corsair. It has a good presence in the air that is totally unique. I love Corsairs and the look of that inverted gull wing. That was a very sweet landing - and the plane knew it had to veer to the right. . . . if it had gone to the left - it may have scratched your car - and you may have kicked it's butt.

Thank you , It always been a favorite design of mine also . I feel a bit more confident with the rudder on this each time I land . On a later flight It did do that and come with about an inch of the car . LOL Its so important to hit that crown in the road dead center because as soon as it starts to go to one side it's almost never recoverable . Cheers

@@PhilipCockram Philip - Glad to hear about your growing skill set with rudder. I think that is KEY to being able to enjoy a tail dragger. While you are at this - I might mention a little something about rudder I have read about. Full size pilots have written about using a little bit of throttle along with rudder to control their plane. ( The rudder can't help at all if it doesn't have some air flowing past. ) So, I have tried just a bit of this myself. I fly from a wide parking lot - so I have a bit of space to work with. On a few landings with a bit of cross wind being a factor - I have kept a bit of throttle in while rolling out for the landing. I apply full up elevator, and with just a moderate throttle I feel that I still have enough prop blast to be effective - and keep the plane from veering / turning into the cross wind. It doesn't take much throttle at all. You certainly don't want throttle to cause you to lift back off - slow - and stall into a crash. The net result of this has been that the plane still slows for a complete landing with the throttle being lowered - and it may add 30 or 40 feet to my landing roll out. So, a slightly longer landing roll is a bit more scale like in my opinion anyway. ( At a full size airport with a war bird especially - they may roll for nearly a mile before they slow and turn off the runway. ) So, as you fly your Corsair - you might gently try a bit of this technique and see if any of this helps you operate / enjoy your Corsair further. { Maybe you can roll past your car a little ways and keep it on the road. } Good luck and enjoy !

@@jollyroger2226 Thanks for the tips and advice . I am going to try some practice landings with this and others . I'm becoming more interested in scale flying all around and indeed you're very correct they mainly use very long and gentle roll offs , landings and maneuvers . Admittedly, some manufactures do state they've had to up performance of RC planes so far to meet people's modern expectations that they able to achieve the impossible compared to the real birds .

Great flight and landing Philip now I miss my Corsair lol but I had to downsize the size of my planes so can take to the field in my small truck looking at the 800 mm corsairs good video and if you looking for any guitars talk to me and amplifiers I just play with Godin 5th ave kingpin from Canada getting to old for the heavy guitars lol later😊😊👍👍👍

Thanks Frank . Yeah I'm still downsizing also . I think the FMS 800mm Corsair is considered the best , Ive one one in the cart a few times but never clicked . LOL. Thinking about selling some guitars to . I just don't have the time to play them all . Godin make nice stuff . My buddy is a pro musician and swears by them . 🎸✈👍🏼🫡
