Sucks big time to see this. Take it from someone who has swapped about 15 motors in M3/M4s it actually much quicker to motor swap them, rather than rebuild a single piston. The trick so you don't need to code anything is to use your original DME on the new motor. Fire it up and its good to go. The beauty of BMWs design is the entire rad assembly/lights/front bar comes off with about 8 bolts. Then pull the motor!

My supercharged e46 M3 piston looked exactly the same when it blew up. Wierd way but it's a BMW. Glad you got it back up

Sheesh. Looks like the fact ups sucks and couldn’t get the parts in the time you guys wanted. But I would say it’s a blessing, cause with out the extra time to pull down the motor and check everything you guys could have had an other engine failure cause of the other piston that was discovered. 🙏🏽🙏🏽 I’m so happy that it’s starting to look better for the F80 again. Can’t wait to see F80 tandems! That’s gonna be some real baller shit!!! 🙌🏾🤘🏽🙏🏽🚙💨🙌🏾🔥🤘🏽

they are running e85 on stock rings. ethanol is a solvent, dissolves oil and makes it passed the ring lands. increased friction in cylinder walls and piston surface etc etc. the evaporative cooling of ethanol usually creates a safety net for it but over time they fail.

The car is on regular pump gas. 91 octane in California could have caused some issues. Along with a fault code from the heat exchanger causing IATs to go through the roof.

@@DriftHQ switch to an e40 blend and run dual 450s in tank. You can get away with beating on it a lot more. These engines are very prone to knock on pump gas and iat and heatsoak happens after 1 lap on pump. I take 8 gallons of 93 and 12 gallons e85 split into 4 gallon jugs. That's plenty for a weekend event

@@DriftHQ if you have yo run 91 fron ca and dont want e85 just run direct port meth but dont use it as fuel just use it to cool the motor. It will last forever at 500whp
