Can the F-18 even withstand 8.9g in real life? because if not then hopefuly ed will model the wings breaking. We don't need another arcade like plane that pilots can abuse with no consequences like the F-15C... just saying.

I think that the plane can go 9gs but will be broken and you have to take it completely apart and I think the main factor of it is that both the pilot and the plane will be out of commission

@@nedbainbridge308going over the g limit just reduces the amount of hours left on the plane. Planes have a set amount of time the airframe is allowed to fly for before being decommissioned or sent to the boneyard. There is no refurbishment for most planes. Because metal fatigue is not something you can necessarily fix but will slowly weaken the wing spars and tolerances of the frame, a certain amount of flexing in the wings is meant to happen, but repeatedly passing g limits adds metal fatigue and is not fixable whatsoever unless it’s a specific point failure due to an accident or malfunction of a specific device. The frame is not fixable.

Very cool, thank you for that tid bit. Now, what's up with the max speed on this thing? Meaning, I can't get it to go over like 800 knots no matter my altitude or load, yet the top speed is listed at over 1,100 knots at 40, 000 feet. At 40k feet and level flught i can't get this bitch past like 5-maybe 600 knots.

Has this been changed I can’t seem to get it to pull more the 7.5G and I have nothing on my plane I’ll get up to corner speed pull back hard on the stick I see 7.5G and I press and hold the G override and nothing happens

@@lucaswoods1155 It's in the manual that's how I found it. It's the nose steering lock engaged button (opposite of unlocking the wheel steering) you have to hold it down when you use it I believe.

This button is dead man switch i.e. the G limiter is only removed while the button is pressed. Learnt it the hard way, should have seen the full video.

Why would you consider this if you want a realistic sim. I worked on F18a and the weapons we loaded all had a specific code that we put in the stores management system which then told the air data computer what limits it had in roll, pitch and G's. If they changed this in a real combat situation I don't know. FYI ??

I have mine mapped to pinkie switch and trigger 1 (half pull) the stick.. should work just fine.
