Say what you will about Fabe's singing talent, but he was yummy, sweet and smart enough to take full advantage of the great break he got, building a lasting career. He's still touring.

I agree and I don't think he was as bad or manufactured as people like to say. He had WAY MORE personality than Rick Nelson (for example). I'd rather watch him than some others who are "bigger stars".

I never understood how people say Fabian couldn't sing. He can certainly carry a tune and he sang in the style of the day. This was not the era of Frank Sinatra ballads (and I loved those). Different times, different music style. He may not have had a lot of musical/singing training, and considering that, I think he did extremely well. He cares about his fans and his fans love him to this day for a reason. He was humble and very grateful for the opportunities he was given. If you ask me that's something sorely lacking these days.

I somewhat agree with you. In my opinion, he can somewhat sing, not saying he can't. This is one of a couple of songs where he actually is doing well. I feel like other songs like "Turn Me Loose" or "Tiger" would be good if he sang them almost differently. But hey, it did well. I say that you should compare his recording of "Turn Me Loose" to the live performance from another artist, Cliff Richard. Cliff's just has more feel and power, while Fabian's is sort of just..there, you know? But he (fabian) really was a good person.

Elvis and James Dean died young. Fabian wasn't as big a star but had it more together to survive a long life. It worked out fair, he's cool.

I don't give a damn what anybody says! The songs he sang fit him "perfectly!" I think a lot of fellow singers/musicians are just flat out jealous of the guy, PAUL McCARTNEY!

Considering that he couldn't sing, he's passably okay here - he was best off with short, staccato notes, nothing sustained - of all the times I've seen him this is about his best singing appearance on TV that I can think of.

Go listen to some others he did...About this thing called love, for example... THAT song was way ahead of it's time...Bands today could do it.

Seems they backed Fabian up with really tight guitar players.....helped compensate and make passable songs really much better.

@@danobrien5154 - His backing musicians were all A-team cream of the crop and included Al Caiola among others.

Song does not even come close to Wilbure Harrison's version. Fabian's band also sounds empty! Fabian was a nice guy no doubt but did contribute with all those Teen Idols of mid late fifties that gave good Rock and Roll a bad name. Rick Nelson being the exception and Tommy Sands(under rated) and only had 2 Top 20 songs.
