Fable is legit one of the earliest games I remember playing as a kid. As my first RPG, it holds a special place in my heart.

"The music is the main character in this game" It's amazing how true this actually is... just like many other aspects of the game, it does a good job at pulling you into the world of Albion and getting you immersed. It's probably my favourite part about it, especially the art-style. Even nearly 20 years later I feel like all of those elements hold up. It's just a shame they couldn't get a bit more time to tweak the experience. Good job, this was an interesting video to listen to! It was also a nice touch to see someone using modding tools for some cool b-roll footage on a video like this.

Morrowind on Xbox was technical genius. I don't know all the details but the Xbox didn't truly have the specs needed to run the game properly so all sorts of wizardry was used, the console would even reboot secretly without out showing you. Game developers have always found ways to get the most out of those early game consoles, either by using special chips in cartridge games or by literally hacking into the console to find extra power or ram or whatever. Imagine what games today could be like if game developers were doing the same thing today, not just building to specs, but how to find and use the console to its fullest.

Possibly the only video essay on this game that captures why it's so magical. Playground has a really tough act to follow and I'm not sure they can nail this same experience.

as a kid i did a whole playthrough where i was determined to make my character go blonde. you could only be blonde if you were good \*and* young, and because for unknown reasons your character ages every time you level up i had to make sure to limit how strong i got. i went with pure skill because charging up arrows was safe but did very good damage, then i got a master katana and plugged it full with extra damage augments as a backup
@excellence5144 Жыл бұрын
I hadn't realized how hard it was to go blond, but thats dedication!
@fridaynightpizza7158 Жыл бұрын
@@excellence5144 they tease you with a blond model in an intro or a trailer or something so you know you can do it but it ends up being really easy to age super fast. you gotta wonder what's wrong with the protag i think even if you stay young you'd end up old if you progress the game too far haha. who knows, maybe if you dont level whatsoever your character can stay young enough between the timeskips to not go grey by the end of the game

I'm not going to watch this because I've watched so many before. But I assume you miss what everybody else misses: the tight gameplay loop. It's built like a handheld game you can play in 10 minute intervals. It's hard not to notice once you look for it. I don't mean that every 10 minutes you could 'Pause, Save, and Return later'. Rather, 10 minutes is all it takes to do pretty much anything, save for a handful of main quests.

I have to disagree with on AC1 vs AC2. AC1 has the shock and awe mechanic which makes combat so great. AC2 watered it down so much that combat became quite boring despite added features. AC1 cities are better playgrounds for the awesome parkour mechanics. AC1 story is great and Altaïr is a great character. They both are great games but AC1 gets the core of the series right first time. AC2 fixed some issues but it also lost some of the high points of the original.
@excellence5144 Жыл бұрын
I haven't played AC1 in a while. I know alot of people consdier 1 vastly superior because of the assassinations and more focused design. I think AC2 is immediately more likable to general audiences however, with a colorful setting, an upgrade system to climb, and humorous dialogue, and has alot more content, which is what I was more or less talking about. I like Altair. I don't have a problem with the story.
