When I read the Quran in English, I was moved by it, it was a very interesting novel, and then a Muslim told me to read the Quran in Arabic and I’ll convert. Arabic is hard, a friend of mine who is an Egyptian ex-Muslim explained the Quran to me, he said the English Quran is a false interpretation. He said if the original Quran did not exist we would believe in the English interpretation and think it's true. At the moment my Quran is ash and it's floating somewhere.

It contains the entire Quran and gives exact references to where you can find the stories in pre-Islamic texts. It also mentions several scientific ideas that were around at the time, like seven heavens, which Muhammad also adopted. Of course, Muslims will claim that these ideas/stories did happen and were revealed by some of the 124,000 prophets that were sent to "all" nations, ha ha. One needs to realize that history and sources operate one way for Muslims only, and another way for everyone else...

I did share the gospel for more than 20 years, then reverted to Islam. The fables are used in context to explain circumstances and the Quran explains so if you can read everything in their context. Christianity has no basis. Islam is the way.

Probably the best academic book you can read on this interesting topic is "The Quran and the Bible" by S. Reynolds. It contains the entire Quran and gives exact references to where you can find the stories in pre-Islamic texts. It also mentions several scientific ideas that were around at the time, like seven heavens, which Muhammad also adopted. Of course, Muslims will claim that these ideas/stories did happen and were revealed by some of the 124,000 prophets that were sent to "all" nations, ha ha. One needs to realize that history and sources operate one way for Muslims only, and another way for everyone else...

This is probably one of the most important aspects of Islam that will be its undoing. Shabir doesn't realize how much of a slippery slope it is to say that certain aspects of the Quran are parabolic fables. It wouldn't be too much of a leap to conclude that Gabriel appearing to Muhammad was a fable, that every supernatural occurrence in his life was a fable, or that Allah himself is a fable.
