Jealousy Warning: Yesterday I was passing through Kanab, Utah. My daughter and I were stretching our legs when a classic car with Oregon plates pulls up to a gas station parking stall right by me. Out hops a guy and his daughter. Since I grew up in Oregon, I ask the guy where in Oregon he's from. I recognized the voice as soon as I heard him say "I just bought this from someone in Oregon" I totally randomly bumped into Paul in Kanab, Utah. He was super nice, I didn't want to take much of his time because he seemed in a hurry. He was really friendly, down to earth and just an overall good dude! Paul, It was a pleasure bumping into you! Thanks for the great content.

I truely believe in Karma! You were ment to find theese incredibly awesome vehicles! Maybe even some help from the other side? Stranger things have happened. As far as the truck goes!, I loved the idea of a blower, the truck seemed to be absolutely beautifull. Black! With a blower, monster engine! and lots of chrome. New tires and fantastic rims! Really couldn't see into interior, black tufted leather! And a crazy sound system. I can't wait to see what they both look like! After the love that you put into them. A great post! From a loving family! Thanks for the great ride.
@timothygeiger82712 жыл бұрын
@@williamd1891 that's what you say here, but I'm willing to put a wager on you doing exactly like he did. They didn't have the option of "towing" it. By "towing" that means getting a tow truck to take it, which let me educate you on tow rates. They are rather pricey, at over $2 per mile, it would have cost over $4,000. to "tow" it, maybe over $5,000. He couldn't trailer it, because there wasn't enough room on the trailer. Why wait until spring? Then you have the expense of going back up there again. The idea is to try to not be wasteful. Your two examples would cost alot of money.

The Firebird is my favorite of the pony cars since they were rare compared to the Camaros. If the heads have never been rebuilt you might want to run some additive to save the valve seats. The motor for the truck should definitely have a roots style blower with a six pack on top or a 8 Weber IDF system looks old school trick. Glad the footage of you two crop dusting each other made the final edit. Keeping it funny and light.

Just re-watched the entire 3-parter in order, and I am truly moved by this story. Mary Pat could not have found a happier home for these pieces of her family history!! The Firebird cleaned up so nice - that is a museum piece, basically a survivor (with a couple of updates to the stance and wheels), but a dream of a car. Can't wait to see the '42 build, I know it is going to be a stunner when done - next stop = Smokey Burnouts!!! Thank you Paul and family for sharing this journey. Incredible.

For the steering on the Firebird, when you are looking into the steering, Borgeson apparently makes an upgraded steering box that will fit the a-bodies, and will give it more of a modern steering feel. For the truck, big block with a 10-71 blower. No need to turn more than a few pounds of boost though, but blower whine would make it fine.

Congrats on your new toys, looking forward to seeing what you do with each of them. My idea for the engine compartment in the truck is a big block, with either 3 deuces or dual quad carbs. I'm old school, turning 65 next month, and remember when the visual impact of a muti carb setup was super cool. Granted not the best performance, especially by today's standards, but definitely a conversation piece. Whatever you do, it will be fun to follow along. You and your family are helping to shorten our winter here in Fargo, North Dakota.
