"Felgercarb" in the original BSG was used as their version of saying "cr*p." You're probably thinking of the word "Frack." And even then, in the original BSG, it was used as their version of saying "sh*t" (but could sometimes be interpreted as saying the f-word). In the reimagined series, "Frack" was given a different spelling (now becoming "Frak"), and officially became their version of saying the f-word. That being said, "What the sh*t?" and "What the f***?" are both applicable, if profane, versions for expressing surprise at something unexpected.

No, it was his idea; they were filming at Universal studios, and Dirk saw the cylon and thought it'd be a funny idea, just for the guys behind the camera (as they were all big BG fans). He didn't ask for it to be kept in, much less in the credits, but was delighted when he saw they did.

In fact the producer of Battlestar Galactica Glenn Larson was the competitor of Stephen J. Cannell. They probably are good friends in private life but they were rivals in their profession as writers. Funny fact: the red light of K.I.T.T in Knight Rider (Glenn Larson) was inspired by the red eye of the Cylon. By the way, The A-Team was Stephen J. Cannell's answer to Glenn Larson's Knight Rider a year later.

As far as the episode number, the way I count them is the way they're presented on both the DVDs and Hulu, where they have combined all the two-parters into single episodes. This makes the count different from the way they were originally aired. I could use the original airing numbers, but since the aim is to help people in finding the episode, it makes sense to me to use this scheme. Thanks for your comment. :)

What made Hatch as Tom Zarek work was it was totally unexpected. We didn't even know he was in it until we saw him on screen. This was especially since Hatch originally didn't like the idea of a remake and was quite vocal against it. But if Dirk showed up the audience would have been "Here we go again. Are they going to bring back everyone now?"
