@@purplemonkey649 You do know that as of 19 March that the Public Health England reclassified COVID 19 from a high category risk to the public to low risk. So why am I a free Englishman under lockdown restrictions?
@purplemonkey649

@@liamcearbhaill9987 well, i dont know what that's got to do with not being a dick towards other people. But as free Englishman, you could apply that free education you got, Worldwide.. 0 - 167 days 100,000 cases. Next 11 days 200.000 cases Next 4 days 300,000 cases. Under 3 days 400,000 cases. I'm sure you can see a pattern developing here, just to illustrate how virtual this thing is. True, most of us wont be affected, all this is for is to help frontline staff get their ducks in a row. Try not to overwhelm the system with infections. You're being asked to sit in the house, watch Netflix and get you're shopping delivered. Hardly ripping up magna carta. Stiff upper lip and all that good chap
@liamcearbhaill9987
@liamcearbhaill9987 4 жыл бұрын
@@purplemonkey649 Ha steady on there, you have no idea what my kin had to go through to secure that 'free' education although a few terms at a school in Wiltshire was paid for by my Dad. At the moment I am not a free Englishman as I am under the same house arrest as any 'tagged' criminal even though I am innocent. I don't have netflix by the way or have deliveries. So you would rather ruin the economy, social cohesion and mental health for the sake of the NHS? We are in unchartered territory here and we have no idea how it will end. For a disease that is now officially classed as low risk to the public. It's BS and you know it. The stats are correct I agree but it is the way you or the media present those stats that is incorrect.
@purplemonkey649
@purplemonkey649 4 жыл бұрын
@@liamcearbhaill9987 I take you're point on the economy, but we were going to take a hit on this whatever way we played it. The argument that we dont do it for the flu, cancer, even road accidents is another. But these things are expected, years of data and experience tells us these will come, so we prepare and try to minimise as much as we can. And you've acknowledged yoursel, these are uncharted waters. What right minded governments response to new dangerous highly contagious viral outbreak would be 'you know what, fuck it, let it burn through, carry on as normal' The infection numbers shows this has an RO of around 2-3, meaning that left unchecked whole areas and communities all start getting sick at the same time. Then what? Panic. Leads to Fear, panic buying, looting, bank runs, riots, who knows, Granted it's worse case scenario. One thing I'm sure we can agree on is never underestimate the stupidity of people in large groups. So far its be a calm and measured response and you've seen the state of some people. Who knows what kinda reaction we would see, but to allow it to just carry on it flirting with disaster. That would also tank the economy, and maybe even leave the place in ruins. So i think that will be thinking behind it. because let's be brutal honest here, I dont think they really know what else to do... We're all in the same trench with this one, globally. Every economys paused, a preemptive move to try and get and get in front of this. If there were one regime that had the balls to allow it to burn through it would have been the CCP. they probably done a cost benefit analysis on Over 1 bilion people, they could lose a few. Life seems cheap there, no such thing as the HSE over there. It could've been the strategy at the start until then seen what then had in their hands. Even they closed forcefully quarantined 500+ million people to try and contain this.which begs the questions...what is it wrong are really dealing with here? Perhaps if they got their shit together at the beginning this wouldn't even be a conversation. But the blame game and the repercussions can wait for another day. The here and now, let's just hunker down for a bit try and get a handle on it, some good news coming out about possible treatments. Lets hope so, try and get back to some normality. Anyway Liam....hope you and yours are keeping healthy.

It is super interesting as a patient how COVID19 has changed things for us. I am immunocompromised and I am considered very high risk for catching it and having a bad outcome. Ever since the first case came to my state about 3 and a half weeks ago. I immediately started strict self-isolation. Keep in mind I am always in a form of self-isolation:protection year round because for me catching a common virus, bacteria, or cold would push my body over the edge. Year round I avoid large crowds, and germ ridden places if I have to go in one of those places I wear a mask and I always practice proper hand hygiene. With COVID19 I do not leave the house for anything except absolutely essential doctors appointments or pharmacy runs. I have rescheduled other appointments or handled things on the phone. For the appointments I had to go out to last week my scores office had everyone stay in their cars. They had medical techs come out check us in. Give us paperwork. They would come back and take it.’then bring us in one patient at a time to do the drug test (it is a pain clinic), we skipped vitals and weight and were sent back out to the car and were told the provider would call us. They called us we had our visit and then they would come back out give us our prescriptions. I have no joke left the house once a week since then. My family has also been more strictly self isolating themselves to protect me. What frustrates me as a chronically ill and disabled person is how no the government, institutions, and employers are willing make prompt accommodations to let people work and learn from home. Yet literally any of time of the year we have to fight tooth and nail to get what we need or any accommodations at all and a lot of the time we are told it just isn’t possible...... but magically when abled bodies healthy people can get sick all of a sudden within days people are set to do things from home. COVID19 reveals how much we are treated unfairly. We could be inclusive and let people be apart of life but instead they choose not to. Our bodies may be broken but oirnmindss

Faulty Unicorn Try to keep that anxiety down, breathing and mindfulness have been helping me a lot. I was taken to hospital with suspected heart attack last week, btw, I’m 40 and quite fit but I’ve been driving myself mental over the consequences of how badly this is being mishandled by most governments, just as an example. Just wash your hands isn’t very affective against an airborn pathogen but that was the official advice. I could go on literally for hours. Surgical masks for healthcare workers against a viral partical measuring 150nm. Anyway, my point is I learned I have to detach and check myself to see how I’m feeling before I catch up on what is happening and its going better now, well the lorazepam are doing their bit too of course lol. Just do everything you can to get the anxiety down because once it takes hold its incredibly difficult to slow down again. I hope you stay well, if you haven’t tried yoga, breathing and meditation they really do work incredibly well but you also have to detach as I found out the hard way. Should also mention it turned out to be a panic attack which I’ve never had in my life but it had every single last one of the symptoms of heart attack, they came in over 3 days and only on the 3rd did I look up heart attack symptoms and realise it could be something serious. Healthcare workers were amazing. I’m 10k miles from you but I’d still like to thank you and all your colleagues for what you do for us.

@@andylane7142 if you watch older vlogs by doctor hope you will see masks being tested. washing hands is the best thing. The anxiety is you are over thinking things. put some music on switch off the news do not make this your sole focus its not healthy. I have had it and I am diabetic and asthmatic I am fine. stay inside help the NHS and watch the box sets you always meant to.. it is going to be ok xx

Hannah wells Hey, thanks so much for those nice thoughts. Just so you know, masks are the most affective thing as they stop you touching your face and are at least partly effective at stopping the virus reaching your mouth and nose. The issue is masks are incredibly difficult to use properly and require changing often but even just having a barrier to stop you touching your mouth and nose is better than hand washing because its a constant. Hand washing only covers you until the next time you touch a contaminated surface. If masks aren’t available then of course hand washing is essential. I am not really concerned about getting the virus, obviously I’d prefer not to but its not a major worry thats driving my anxiety. That is coming from the affect this is going to have on so so many innocent good people around the world and knowing it could have been handled so much better which would have saved many many lives assuming we don’t get a miracle cure that is. I mean those poor people in Asia, Africa and South America. Its just so unfair on those people. Not to mention people I care about here who there is a good chance I may lose one or more of. Anyway I won’t carry on because it won’t do either of us any good but I did want to say thank you very much for your thoughts.

Thank you, and your colleagues for all you are doing, and all you have been doing. I hope people stop and think, once this is all over, about how much worse this all would have been had we not had our NHS. Stay as safe as you can. We appreciate everything the medical profession is doing for us.

Thank you for updating us mate throughout all this. I'm watching from Australia where our government still won't push for full lockdown or amend testing criteria and I think PPE is a large concern as well. Australians are too blaze about this. We are 2 weeks behind you, i am watching with great intent and Boris has finally done the right thing to lockdown so Godspeed to the NHS! I hope they change the mask guidelines as well!

When this is all over - I want to know who the people who have been exploiting the situation, stockpiling stuff, and abusing our NHS personnel (if it is true) are. I want to never forget how inspirational some people have been - but I am also really uncomfortable with the idea that certain other people will be allowed to just slide back under their rocks unchallenged. This is a real crucible moment, in our history, and I can't remember ever being so aware that I was living among both angels and devils. See - I don't believe a person can be spitting at a nurse, one day, and then be pretty normal the next. Same thing with stockpiling toilet paper as if it confers some sort of advantage (what really confers advantage is our ingenuity, stoicism and our ability to be united as a social species whilst simultaneously keeping a considerate distance from each other). Is my instinct going to be sharp enough, in future, to know that 2020 did not bring out the best in a person I'm talking to?

Thing is, a person (and I'm using the term loosely) _can_ be spitting at a nurse one day and then seem completely normal the next day. And not even day, the next 5 minutes. No one behaves like a complete b**** all the time and with everyone. Actually, the worst kinds of people can be very charming, and unless you get into a certain kind of situation with them you won't know what kind of monster they are.

Stay strong and good luck for the next weeks! Here in Italy we have a really large number of healtcare workers being infected because of the lack of proper PPE. Workers on the frontiline just don't have to work with only a surgical mask. I really hope that the protocols will change, at least for the countries that are not yet badly affected and that still have a chance to protect their workers.
