Yeah using a download gate and a few other ways. But it will cost a lot more to do it, usually 5-10 times the cost, not worth it on my opinion.

You can only use landing page views for Hyperfollow, use Hypeddit or ToneDen in your ads for custom conversions instead. You can however use HyperFollow for your social media pages, and then retarget anyone thats ever landed on the page with ads.

You'd probably do a video views campaign, and then run retargeting ads on people that watched more than 2 minutes of that video. You might even do 2 stages of this retargeting to make a funnel of sorts. For example -> Video view ad -> retarget with a free song download in exchange for email address -> retarget with awesome offer to buy CD & send them an email with the offer

Hey, thanks! I typically don't do pre-launch campaigns much anymore. They can be useful in certain situations, but for most people i'd say just focus on promoting your song once its out.

I wanted to run a conversion ad by leading directly to the audience to the Spotify link (located on Spotify Website). I quitely tried but I was facing the ''Facebook pixel must be active'' !

You can just use a landing page service like Hypeddit or ToneDen, or FeatureFM, or LinkFire, or SmartURL. You then put the Pixel ID on the landing page service. This is much easier than using a full website.

Andrew I hope you are well. All your strategies have helped me so much! I got on discover weekly after following your course this week. Are you hearing of anyone else having issues with FB deactivating accounts every other day ?? FB has said that the ads do not violate policies but still every other day it gets deactivated, i reach out and the reactivate in less than 24 hours (5 times so far). Let me know if you have any advice for this as i worry every time FB goes back to learning phase after and CPC go up.

If you're trying to send people to an external link like KZbin, its going to cost a LOT more per view than getting video views on Facebook. If you want video views on YT you'd be better off running KZbin ads.

Thanks! Glad this helped. You can only do retargeting if you had a pixel on the destination. Nowadays I use a landing page with a pixel and run conversion campaigns instead of clicks, and that allows me to make a LAL or a custom audience. You can’t make one off of raw clicks unfortunately.

You can pretty much do whatever you want that makes the most sense for your campaign. You could reuse the same audience you've used before, you could retarget people with a custom audience, or use a brand new audience you've never targeted before. Each has their own benefits and use cases.

Hi Andrew, what’s your take on promoting a song with FB ads when 85% of the Feed ads are viewed without sound? Is that why you are using mostly Story ads? I figured that KZbin ads might be better since they always have the sound on - but there are less targeting options on YT and much more expensive, so Im not sure if it will be worth it. Would have run bumper ads if I were to advertise on YT. Have you tried advertising on YT? If so, what results did you get?

We started on Facebook Ads with short video clips that were snippets and a link to the KZbin video to generate KZbin views. We did get some traffic, but the main benefit was the new IG followers. KZbin videos are like Internet real estate, so sometimes you want to invest it that rather than just Spotify streams. Either way, the new followers are the extra benefit that makes it worth it, especially if you can get your CPC down to $.10. We run one ad for a week for each video, so I don't think they are running long enough to get the cheaper rates. We have gotten down to $.16. We will probably keep doing that even during Spotify campaigns. These are great sources for video views for custom campaigns and Look-alike campaigns to build audiences for direct Spotify promotion.

Yeah pretty much. You can also retarget anyone that watched X percentage of the video on release day with your ads that link to Spotify or whatever platform you choose.

Interesting. So you recommend landing page and not just linking directly to the song on Spotify?

He mentions in other videos that with linking directly, you get a lot of bot and accidental clicks that you have to pay for. The landing page is one more step, so it may deter some people who would have clicked directly but it also makes it so only the determined end up going to Spotify. We are A/B testing traffic vs. conversion to see the results for ourselves. With Toneden, you get a cool landing page but it links directly to the song. With a traffic campaign, you can link to the artist profile. We are going to test to see which one results in the most playlists, saves, and follows on Spotify since the follow button isn't on the song page.
