at 4:11 you talk about writing the ad copy to make it seem like it is not an ad and more like a conversation. In regards to video ads, how do you suggest one approach this? Make only the post text copy read like a conversation? Or should one do this both in the post text copy and in-video copy? I'm not sure but I think I saw somewhere that FB is scanning videos for in-video text copy and running them through the algo. Let us know if you have info on this too. Thanks
@Adamerhartvideo6 жыл бұрын
Hey Adam, thanks for the great question. Both the text and the video should be made as conversational as possible. When running video ads what I like to do is work clients and students through a proven video script (I think I still have one available for download on my website adamerhart.com) and then use the text part to get them to watch the video (but have also used the text part to reiterate what is said in the video... I tend to test both) And yes the algo can scan what's being said - it's how they are able to generate captions automatically if you don't want to get a captions file made or type up your own - pretty cool stuff!

Right. Yeah. I'm digging the approach to creating ads that don't feel like ads. Definitely the way forward since it lowers the level of pain for the viewer. I also think this newer approach has been heavily informed by the Instagram ecosystem. Thanks for the infos :)
@Adamerhartvideo6 жыл бұрын
Awesome thanks Adam, and yeah the move to "conversational" style ads is due to a number of things, but you're right in that the more casual nature of Instagram (and some other platforms) are changing the way people react to all forms of content (especially ads). Take care!

I'm curious about one of your suggestions below around editing/not editing a post. If we have a post that hasn't been boosted, but performed well organically and we want to boost it... can we edit the content so it's relevant today (if there is a change in call to action let's say) and retain the social proof? I'm wondering what pieces of a post can be edited and which ones cannot to retain the social proof. Thanks for your help!
@Adamerhartvideo6 жыл бұрын
Hey Wanda! Prior to boosting or using it as an ad you should be ok (please test this on a post with only a small amount of social proof first as things change all the time! And weird as it is sometimes things behave differently depending on different circumstances) But the second it becomes an ad (ideally set up through ads manager and not just boosted) any change will wipe out the social proof. Hope that helps!

You can put 1 ad per ad set and get equal ad spend distribution to test all 5 ad sets, or you can put 2-3 ads per ad set and let the algorithm optimize for the best one. Choice is yours!

how do you get "social proof" for your ad?
@Adamerhartvideo6 жыл бұрын
Hey UJ, you get social proof simply by putting it in front of people who are likely to positively respond to it. Basically... create a good ad with a good message, then target it appropriately for the right people, and the social proof will come as a natural byproduct.

Hey Adam! Was wondering if could answer something for me: is a lookalike audience built from a facebook page you no longer manage still useful in an ad? Hi Adam, Great collection of videos! Keep it up! I would love your help on something - you mention to use the posts with social proof, but is there any way to do it cross-platform? I want to keep more of my Instagram creatives, since there we get a lot of engagement there, but every time I chose a FB post (photo) with some social proof and promote it, it goes on insta, get engagement, and after the campaign runs out it disappears. Also does the same strategy work if I want to use it for a different type of campaign - lets say have a video with many views, and use that video for my click-to-link campaign, showing the views etc? Thanks for your time!
@Adamerhartvideo6 жыл бұрын
Hey Zett Feral thanks so much! The short answer is IF you're able to create an ad and the "use existing post" option rather than create a new post then it should maintain the social proof. The other side of course is that as Facebook continues to open up new placements (like messenger, audience network, etc) how much social proof is going to be able to be transferred back and forth may vary (and may change as they figure it out).

can someone please explain the concept of using the same ad from the page that was being talked about in regards to "social proof": I am not quite understanding it, do you mean to create 1 page and create all ads through that page instead of creating different ones for each campaign?
@Adamerhartvideo6 жыл бұрын
Hey there UJ, I've posted about this a bit before (but it may be tough to find in the comments) Basically... you go to the page post section of the ads manager and copy the Ad ID # (googling how to do that can help) then just paste that number into the option to "use existing ad" rather than "create new ad" when creating an ad. Super confusing the first time, then super easy from there!

One ?.....ads don't appear in your own feed right? So the only way I normally get to see it out there is if someone likes it. My question is....if I pause an ad for say 2 week and then re-start it - it's safe to assume that all the social proof and engagement it has will still be present? It makes perfect sense that it will be.....I'd just never thought of it in that way. Is that what you are saying in your tip about social proof in this video? Txs Mike.
@Adamerhartvideo6 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike, the best way to see your ads and all the comments, likes, shares, and stats on them is to check it out right in the Facbeook Ads manager (and then you can open it in the newsfeed to take a look). Also yes, you can pause and it will preserve all the social proof (just don't edit it!)
@mhoctober6 жыл бұрын
So - just checking my understanding Adam....if I run an ad that targets an audience in a particular geographical area which gets lots of comments etc.....and then I want to use the same add for an audience in a different geographical area - I'll lose all the original comments?? I'm going to try this and will add the results to this comment :-)
@mhoctober6 жыл бұрын
Yep - I changed the audience and lost the comments.
@Adamerhartvideo6 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike, if you use the same exact ad (by getting the ad ID number from the page post section of the ads manager) then you can preserve all the social! It's good stuff :)
@Adamerhartvideo6 жыл бұрын
You should be able to copy and paste the ad ID and preserve them. What may have happened is when things changed it created a new ad for you (you can fix this by going back and saying use existing ad and the just pasting in the id) sounds tricky the first time but it's simple once you've done it a couple times.

If you’re looking for a quick answer to a simple question then may I recommend Google? If on the other hand you’re looking for what it actually takes to create a profitable Facebook ad campaign I think with a bit more time and experience you’ll find that the solutions are a bit more nuanced. Best of luck!
