STORY:
10 year old Nannie Pearl Womack disappeared while walking home from the school house. She was soon after discovered by searchers. She was found dead in the woods adjacent to her home in Russell County, Kentucky. She had been indecently assaulted.
The search for the killer commenced immediately.
And the bloodhounds were soon hot on his trail.

The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

I'm sorry but the armchair detective in me is having a hard time buying that. I mean, I feel like if she heard the little girl screaming, then others would have too. Hey Ron, so glad to see this story! I kept my word, didn’t tell a soul that this story was coming, didn’t even tell my husband! I first found out about the story of little Nannie Womack when I worked over in Jamestown, Ky several years ago and the story has always intrigued me. Such a sad tale, for both Nannie and Elmer. Really sad that there is information that could prove that Elmer was innocent but you were asked not to share. Kinda shameful that Elmer is to be forever associated with this act of wickedness and evil. I am happy to see that the Womack family cemetery is relatively well kept and that family still visits from time to time. May sweet little Nannie and Elmer both be resting in eternal love and peace. ~Renee Poulin~

Whoa! Did you just say Ron was asked not to reveal some information that may indicate that Elmer was innocent? Why would anyone ask that? (And wondering what circumstance would lead Ron to agree, if this statement is true.) On another note, if anyone has the skill to do so - the local papers in surrounding towns and counties would be researched for similar attacks on. young girls. (probably from about 10 years prior, and 2 - 3 decades after). Ron said Elmer had been accused of assault on another child and that asks the question - what kind of assault? If he was intellectually challenged, could have been a simple matter of throwing a rock or pushing someone who was teasing him. But whoever killed Nannie; would kill again because these criminals almost always do. If not Elmer, then there were more attacks.

A really sad story. Poor Nannie. How cruel. How someone could be capable of doing such a terrible thing to an innocent young girl is beyond me. What her family must have gone through as well. Talk about the lynch mob back in the day. They certainly didn't hang about. They soon decided in their minds that Elmer must be guilty. I think he was innocent. The trouble is we will never know will we. May Nannie and her family be at peace and also Elmer. You are a great story teller Ron. Keep up the great work and I look forward to your next update. I want to thank you for these very touching videos. America has a rich wealth of history and not all of it has to do with the wars of independence in 1776. The people you portray in these videos show a world long forgotten and give us a glimpse of what life and death was like for them and what they had to do to survive. Each and everyone of these people helped in some small way to build and shape America. I sometimes think we take forgranted what we have now, as it is really all down to these pioneers, it was a hardlife and very often a short one too. Take care and keep safe Xx.

Each of your stories allow us to touch the past. This is yet another engrossing tale of tragic loss, and a probable miscarriage of justice. Such a cruel time! Thank you!

Every time you add the music Ron it’s truly taking me back to the times and I feel like I am there living through it. It really adds so much! I’m just about to start and can’t wait. 💜👍 Good lord what a tragic story. The poor girl & poor Elmer, if he was innocent…those horrible lynch mobs….disgust me.

What a sad story for Nannie ,& family. I too think perhaps the mob was too quick to act. Thanks Ron.

I think on some occasions the person that would commit these crimes most likely was apart of the so called justice mob....hiding in plain sight the crowd would be so blood thirsty they would never know it

Thanks so much for telling her story. You did a great job. I lived in this little town and found the story and it broke my heart and also fascinated me. My husband and I have read and discussed little Nannie for years. Alot of her family are still in this little town and are wonderful people. Thanks for the respect shown to all involved. I appreciate you

God please save our children. Such innocence and beauty in every child. They are our gifts. We must care for them above all else. My eyes felt heavy as my heart during this one.

This is part of my family's history I did not know about until coming across this video. Thank you for doing so. Morgan was brother to my great-grandfather Harrison Womack and other brother Milton (my middle name). They, and later my grandfather Sylvester Womack were all born in columbia, Kentucky. This story is heart wrenching and so sad. But it is good to know more information about our family history, even if tragic.
