The spokesperson for Hamas would not be compelled by virtue of ideology or theology to say these exact words. And of course it’s an opinion. It’s a subjective view that has as much to do with tribalism as the response to the opinion. It’s all essentially tribal. Subjectivity necessarily is related to tribalism or perspective. This is inescapable but not de facto uninformed or evil. Being pro Palestinian or pro Israeli is likely related to tribal viewpoint and interpretation of the same essential morality we mostly all ascribe to.

She was my prime minister when I moved to Israel in 1971 - and frankly even with the mistakes that were made prior to the Yom Kippur War she was the best. I know as I was there, I do not have to read a book on that war - I lived it, as did my late husband and newborn son. The same cast of characters and bad actors bullied Israel in 1973. The Arab oil embargo and pushing the cease fire - and just like today it was a surprise attack from the south and the north. I watched Operation Nickle Grass fly over Tel Aviv with cargo/transport planes from the USA and the Azores - delivering tanks etc.. in mid October 1973 - we had severe losses over 2800 IDF soldiers killed and 8 thousand plus IDF soldiers and civilians were wounded. I watched as Anwar Sadat visited us and addressed the Knesset in November 1977, we gave the entire Sinai back to Egypt - peace??? Where is Egypt today? They and Jordan kept their gates closed to the Gazans and have joined forces with the ANC in SA against Israel. I wish she was here now. No-one can match her and her resolve. Am Yisrael Chai, and we are here to stay.
