Those are important points, but they miss a crucial question: Why is it that when countries like Russia, Turkey, or various Arab nations annex territory during what they claim are civil or defensive wars, their actions are often accepted or go unchallenged? Yet, Israel is expected to return any territorial gains, even though the land in question is the historic homeland of the Jewish people. Consider this: if Jordan, Egypt, and the Arab League had succeeded in their military efforts, Jews would have been expelled, likely never allowed to return to their homeland or access their holy sites. In contrast, when Palestinians left during the conflict-triggered by their leaders' attempt to ethnically cleanse Jews from the Middle East-Israel did not forcibly deport them. They left due to the war initiated by their own leaders. The evidence of this is stark: nearly one million Jews who once lived in Arab League nations are now almost entirely gone. Meanwhile, nearly two million Arabs live as citizens in Israel today. This contrast raises serious questions about the double standards applied to Israel compared to other nations in similar situations.

There is no international law that forbids territorial changes after a defensive war.
@sergeyfoyering69534 ай бұрын
@@Tiki2390 "The widely-repeated view that recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights would becontrary to international law is based on one fundamental assumption: that at least since theadoption of U.N. Charter, international law prohibits any acquisition of foreign territory by force.While such a formulation of the rule is largely accurate, it omits crucial exceptions quite relevantto the case of the Golan Heights.Whatever the current status of an absolute prohibition on territorial change resulting from war,there was certainly no such blanket prohibition in 1967, when the territory came under Israelicontrol. At the time, international law only prohibited acquisition of force in illegal or aggressivewars. This is evident from the source of the prohibition in the UN Charter, post-Charter state2practice, and the understandings of international jurists at the time. There is simply no precedentor authoritative source for forbidding defensive conquest in 1967.The U.N. Charter prohibits war for most purposes. When the use of force is illegal, it is natural toconclude that any territorial gains from such aggression cannot be recognized as well. Thus theillegality of conquest arises from the presumptive illegality of the use of force. But crucially, theU.N. Charter does not make all war illegal. Indeed, it expressly reaffirms the legality of adefensive war. Since defensive war is not illegal, it follows that the defender’s territorial gainsfrom such a war would not be illegal."

The Egyptians support them because Hamas is the same thing as the Muslim Brotherhood which is and has been a big problem for Egypt. The people might act differently, but make no mistake the governments of those countries want Israel to finish the job. Iran on the other hand is the other way around, before the Islamic Regime, they had a great relationship with Israel, The Iranian people love and support Israel and their government/regime is hellbent on destroying it. We hear about iran because they heavily fund Hamas and 100% fund Hezbollah which is a much more serious threat than Iran. he was right - giving up sharm was a huge mistake. I know people dont think thats true and they'll point enthusiastically to 50 years of peace, but history unfailingly shows that extremism in arab countries is never more than one "revolution" away. Today egypt is a secular western country. Tomorrow it could be more similar to iran - and it almost was if not for a recent coup. The egyptians themselves know this is true. They have no guarantees of stability or democracy or human rights in the long term.

I believe it was the '73 war, in which Dayan lost his political juice. He was a major voice downplaying an Egyptian/Arab attack, and was notably indecisive during the conflict. Still - the great Moshe Dayan has to be on the Mt Rushmore of GOAT IDF Commanders.

That ship screamed for aid from nearby American air force But Israel blocked the signal till they were done killing the American soldiers American population are prisoner's to campaign money And that was spy ship not involved in any of war actions in that time Israel killed many other Americans unjustifiably just like Rachel Corrie.

I dont understand the Isralei justification for building settlements in the West Banks, it may be historical land of the Israelis, bu the 1948 plan "gave" those land to Palestine, wasnt this a concession of sorts? How far are the Israelis ready to go when building new settlements on what is seen as Palestinian land? Not even mentioning the Palestinian Arabs here, who did not accept the plan in the first place.
@tartarus13224 ай бұрын
Under the plan, that land would be designated an Arab state, just as Israel was a Jewish state. However, the plan was not accepted making it, while a useful template, ineffective and non-binding. Furthermore, it earmarked the entirety of Jerusalem as an international city, which was later split, and other territories were captured and relinquished. There are two main reasons given for the Israeli building of settlements on the land attributed for an Arab state in 1948 and they are as follows: 1. the land is belonging to Jews 2. the settlements are necessary for security Since the UN attributes land taken through war invalid, the current state of affairs in the West Bank is dubious at best. It either belongs to Jordan and is being occupied by Israel, or it belongs to no one and is occupied by Israel vis-a-vis the UN's rulings on international law. It is all moot, however, since the Palestinians have not managed to organize themselves condusively to the creation of a state within the territories attributed to their representatives in the Oslo Accords and so will likely continue to lose land until they flee, cut their losses and found a functioning state, or gain the strength to fight a nuclear armed force. Whether a state for the arabs of Palestine is recognized or not, it is indisputable that the Palestinian Arabs have not successfully administrated themselves and so may go the way of the Kurds or other nation-peoples that find themselves incapable of establishing self-rule.

@@MagicNash89 the real reason they want the West Bank is for water. It’s the recharge zone for the regional groundwater basin. Golan heights same thing - key watershed. They’ll never make a concession until the US stops their mindless support. To do it justice, the older generation in the US saw Israel differently for some good reasons. The younger generation sees it differently for very good reasons. Things will change.
