Almost convinced the worst part of captivity is the auditory environment. The sounds of that metallic echo chamber are soul piercing.

They are definitely in some kind of medical research center, so it makes sense that this mother would feel intensely for this baby, as who knows how long she may have been in that cage alone? It is nice they had this moment, and I hope others like it, because those places aren't known for worrying about the animals comfort.

She hopefully is in a better research facility than most ..they are useing new methods on macaques to try and not stress them as much and tho NONE IS GOOD at least this mom is content for the most part..😢she isn't showing hard stress like most do.

Yall are looking to much into it with the emotion part. The title of this video is wrong. The mom is simply looking in the eyes for grooming purposes or she's just curious. There's no facial expressions to study here! Macaques are my favorite monkeys to watch. The numbers are her chest could unfortunately mean she was at 1 time a medical test subject. Sometimes you see these markings and it could just mean they been sterilized but she has a baby. It could also just be a easier way to identify them while she was in a research lab. But lucky she got rescued or released. If that's true captivity is their best chance for life. Definitely no facial communications here

The numbers on the chest are just a form of identification so if the animal is in any sort of distress they can monitor her closely. It does not mean she is a test subject.

What's even funnier is when mother monkeys who can see fine will check the scent of their children's behinds every time they walk away. This could be every 2 minutes as she watches it play with another infant. Every time it walks up to her to feed she will lift tail and take a big whiff to double check that only her babies get that milk.

@chakur25 never heard of that? It’s what mother monkey went through when she was with her mother did to her. It’s passed on through generation to generation.
@rickwrites26123 жыл бұрын
Yes they are lab animals, possibly previous generations as well, most maternal stuff besides the very basic is learned behavior for them. One natural seeming thing but probly has a learn component is mom and baby looking at ec other- otherwise monkeys dont gaze face to face. Once upon a time, a mother of this lineage who had salt or electrolyte deficiency while nursing an infant, combined licking her daughters tears with her matrtnal-bond-gazing and whether or not this mom needs salt, it's now part of her mothering, and if baby is a female who lives long enough to reproduce, she will do the same. Eye licking of infant does occur in wild, usually though it's to pick and eat mites ie baby grooming behavior Altho its possible this is the first time, ie she is the captured/imported mom who needs salt
