I played an opening-themed match against Grandmaster Denes Boros of ChessWeeb. Check out his chess content on Twitch and KZbin!
/ chessweeb

The game in this video features the Nowokunski Gambit, a brave variation of the King's Gambit where commits to an early Ke2. It kind of like the Bongcloud, but actually playable and even potentially dangerous if black isn't prepared! The unusual opening led to a chaotic middlegame and an insane finish. Afterwards, we analyze the game for critical moments and opening improvements.

my friend sent me a chess meme because she knew i loved the game - something along the lines of: Chess players be like "and now I'll play the bongcloud e5 ke2" and act like what they're saying actually means something -- she didn't believe me when i said that bongcloud is a real opening

Becoming a GM is not a primary goal of mine. My current FIDE rating is just over 2350 and I have no GM norms. To chase the title would take years of full devotion to studying and traveling to compete in high level events. I would have to sacrifice time spent teaching, streaming, and creating online content all of which I enjoy. In the event I do achieve the GM title, I have reserved the domain name gmrosen.com - Eric, via nightbot on stream

6:56 without seeing video i say white plays d5 fork the bishop and knight. Blacks unable to take without losing bishop to the queen. A good counter strategy would be blacks knight to e5 placing it in danger of whites knight but also creating threat to queen. If white takes the knight black plays knight to e5 takes forcing another attack on the queen. There is no defense and the assault is foiled. Black wins the pawn once the queen has moved. Id say you have a massive lead over this opponent right now if they push this line.

it’s not a Steinitz gambit, but the Mason gambit. The Steinitz is 1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.f4 ef4 4.d4

6:25 your opponent is doing well at this stage keeping your queen and pieces locked down on the left of the map while activating his queen and bishop on the outside for a flank in the more maneuverable ground. I think pushing pawns would be a good plan gum up the whole attack and activating your own pieces
