Hiii!! Little tip I hope I don't come off as mean or as a know it all :').... Just wanna say the vanity u drew at 12:26 should be moved up a little high so that it looks like it's against the wall cause now it looks like its sort of in the middle of the room? do u know what I mean?? But if that is what u were going for IM SO SORRYYYYY (I just wanted to say that cause I used to make these mistakes too until my art teacher taught me how to properly draw items in spaces so they wouldn't seem out of place)

GIRL THE WAY I JUMPED WHEN I SAW THE NOTIFICATION IS CRAZZYYY. Anyway, a tip for making rooms for characters! Pinterest boards! Search up aesthetics, go online for decorations, look at floor plans, etc! It makes things more fun if you pretend you’re the character shopping lol.

Attempting to draw backgrounds was what made me realize why there's a whole as job section for it. Its so hard and I've only attempted it a few time to limited success. I can see the art so clearly but my skill lvl is thousands of miles away. I really like your video as I am usually suck on where I should start and this helped me a lot. Especially the part about treating rooms as characters.

I would looove to see a video or challenge like this focused specifically on shading techniques, like exploring different methods for shading various textures like shading wooly soft fabrics, shading hair, or shading throughout different times of day etc. Shading is something I struggle with a lot, I feel like I’ve learned one way to shade and I tend to use it across all of my drawings. I’d really like to branch out and experiment with new methods. Shading and lighting can completely change the entire mood of a piece. This was a fantastic video btw Emma, I get so hyped for every new upload!!

I'm trying to get better at drawing backgrounds and I'm having the opposite effect, I'm having no problem with colors, it's everything else that I fail at XD Since I've been working on colors for character designs and learning to not color pick directly from something, y'know color theory stuff. And I cured the problem of not knowing how to color backgrounds and lighting is easier, but I can't even draw from reference lol. And for Ruth's room, I did notice something that might have thrown things off a bit, just wanting to give a different perspective. I looked at it and noticed that the perspective is a bit wack, and the vanity and such is the biggest thing I noticed, as well as them looking almost like they were floating due to shadows not quite being in the right spot and the lighting isn't in one specific direction; the mirror would have extra bounce light that reflects a bit onto the desk-depending on where the light is originating from (Just an example btw) I'm no expert, but I'm working on analyzing backgrounds before jumping in head first, it's just the way I decided to approach it

as someone who doesn't struggle with backgrounds, you need to stop thinking of them as backgrounds. the "background" is just another part of the scene, just like the characters. my biggest inspirations when it comes to those are Calvin and Hobbes, as well as this one book from when I was a kid by Jules Feiffer

Ema ur probably not gonna see this but using Minecraft is a huge help for backgrounds. For one you can visualize what a room looks like to you in ur brain and you can pick any angle for the room perspective. Also because Minecraft is all cubes it’s easier to draw the perspective. Do you get what I’m saying😓😓😓
