I'm a woman. So I know your channel isn't tailored specifically for me. But I just wanna say that your channel has changed my life. I let my depression and trauma from my childhood affect my grooming and attitude and just everything. I was angry, drinking too much and just being ugly. I stumbled on your channel and your advice and idk. When the young teenage men on here say that you're somewhat of a father figure they aren't lying. It's sad that today we have to find parental guidance online. I turn 25 in a few months. I didn't think I was going to make it to 21. I was so suicidal. So to anyone young and afraid and just tired of life and the darkness. Please hold on. I've lost so many friends to suicide. Please don't do it. Please talk to someone. The state offers counseling. Call a hotline. I promise it will pass. Thanks Alpha for making this video. I'll leave the boys club now 🤐

I'm in a similar situation to the one you described, I'm currently living with my mom, and my step-dad is just mentally abusive. He lies to my mom about things and he treats me like shit compared to his kids. His daughter (my step sister) is a spoiled brat and is disrespectful towards my side of the family. Now that I have 2 younger half sisters, my step sister will pick on them at times and she doesn't get any consequences for it. It pisses me off. Her dad always defends her for all the bullshit. Whenever there's an argument in the family there's no room for compromise like ever. The house rules are always stacked against me and are always aimed at me. I'm not gonna lie but at times I was super close to just attempting to kill my step-dad. He gets mad at me over the dumbest shit and always tries to get me into some sort of trouble. An example? He got mad at me for having a box of cheese -its on a certain shelf in the pantry. Another example? I was watching TV while I was home ALONE, he and my 2 younger half sisters came home and wanted to read a book. The dumbass came into the living room where I was watching TV and told me to leave so they can read. Like are you retarded? There's literally like 7 other rooms you could go read in. Anyways, he's a huge dick and he's a hypocrite. Sorry if you had to read all of that but I gotta let it all out somewhere

It's a myth saying getting help from others make you weak as a man. In fact, it makes you strong and wise because you can't do everything on your own. You shouldn't burden everything on your shoulders. We all need someone. That's what people and friends are for.:) Good luck for all those warriors out there. You WILL get better. As someone who is studying and working on a placement in mental health and addiction, I cannot tell you how many times self-care and loving yourself comes up for the people I work with. Thanks for sharing dude! Even the most confident successful people still struggle with their own problems, and it takes courage to share them publicly. I’ve been seeing a counselor for a couple months now, in their office, cuz I’ve developed depression from repeated head injuries playing sports. To add to that my wife and her coworker had an affair and ran away together in an incredibly cowardly fashion, and dealing with stuff like that sometimes seems impossible without the right help. The difference it makes to speak to the right people and, if necessary, take the right meds is priceless. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, everyone needs it!!

Honestly THIS is the best i have heard from you! I myself have struggled with my mental health for the majority of my life because of alot of traumatic events during my childhood/teenage years. After almost 10years of therapy (and still going!), after being admitted to a psyciatric clinic, trying to commit suicide twice in my teens im finally on my path in life. All those experiences, those that i used to wish never happened to me is today something i cherish. They dont define me, what defines me is how i choose to respond to them. I have gone from being a college dropout to soon being finished with my education to become a psyciatric nurse, because i finally understood that i can use my experiences to help other people in need and thats what im put on this earth to do! Obviously this took alot of time, i needed to see that i had the ability to change my reality BUT without the help from my friends, family and most importantly my therapist i would not be here today!

Matthew Benavides but how will somebody understand you ?
@MatthewRBenavides6 жыл бұрын
alex kanyima unfortunately there’s a handful of people who are incapable of understanding signs of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts. Does “why don’t you just feel better” ring a bell? This ties in exactly with what Aaron said about the bad therapist. Most people are understanding because we don’t want others to suffer, even if we don’t understand it. I myself have gone through some intense bouts of depression and I know the feeling of reaching out, and being told that I was doing it to myself. Never listen to this advice, if you can even call it that. You matter, and people care about you. If you reach out, 9/10 someone will be there to lend a hand.
@MatthewRBenavides6 жыл бұрын
Born of Fire I understand the sentiment. Something worth pointing out here is the small amount of information the comment in question showed me. It sounds run of the mill, because there was nothing specific involved that I would be able to work with, aside from the topic itself. As someone who’s also dealt with severe depression and anxiety, in the past, I believe that you and I both know that just having it doesn’t give you experience in helping others solve it. This is why I pursued study in Psychology, and continue to study it. It’s hard to understand in moments of weakness, for those on the receiving end of what sounds like bland advice, but the bottom line is getting help via therapy, counseling, or medicine is all that we have to help aid those in need. A large portion of depression is caused by chemical imbalances, you either need to visit a doctor to get prescribed something to fix it, or begin visitation with a professional, so they can assist you in pin pointing the cause. What I say here in this KZbin comment will have little to no affect of how anyone views depression. That’s just the internet. But to say that seeking help is wrong, or that it is lazy, or not good advice. Is not good advice in and of itself. Regardless of the depth of the pain or anguish someone is going through, the first, and possibly biggest obstacle is finding help and pursuing whatever options you are given.

I fell in love with a girl, she's pretty, athletic and she makes my day every time I see her. There's only one problem, I'm short. It's been a while since I had thought about my height being a factor in my relationships. I was so happy back then when I could just talk to anyone, or just stand in a room without feeling awkward. I know there are some people who are gonna be like "your height shouldn't matter, cuz your awesome!" Well its easy for someone who's over 5'1 to say to me. Just thought I had to let it out and share with the fam, I'm not being my most alpha at the moment, I need reassurance. Thank you for your time, and awesome video Aaron!

Aaron you might not see this but none the less, you’re the one who gave me the motivation to talk to my mom and get a therapist and seek help, I deal with depression and when you were talking about it’s hard to ask for help, it is. I’ll never forget how scared I was to talk to my mom and the therapist. I am young and not experienced the shit of this damn world fully but you have and are sharing this with us. You’re the reason I’m making this comment dude, thank you Aaron.

7:16 All you needed to say. It takes courage to speak up about these things. Often times it seems as though we are alone. And that no one will understand our thoughts or our situation, when really, If people are open with each other, we can find that we are more the same than we could ever imagine. I had a teacher this past year, and as a part of my class, we spoke about our experiences with drugs and alcohol. Many stories arose that were just like mine. We are not alone. It is scary to speak up, but sometimes nessecary.

Honestly Alpha, you are one of the most genuine and decent human beings I’ve ever met, even though I’ve never actually met you in person. Crazy to think you have such an impact on people without even knowing them.

Yo I felt that quote. For the past couple months I don’t rlly be having it in me because my anxiety likes to put things in my head. So I put a smile on my face to show it’s all good, which ends up becoming beneficial. But no matter those benefits, in the end those demons come back and tell me things in my head and say it’s not gonna be alright. Just gotta keep fighting and not lose that mental war

Josiah Kratz this is absolutely great if they are your beliefs and they work for you, but others do not share your beliefs and are not helped by being told they can not overcome without adopting your beliefs

@ keeping silent: not at all. Speak up. Speak up louder. Just speak without putting anyone down because of their different beliefs. That's not complicated.

I currently and seeing s therapist and getting help for myself. Through therapy and my family and honestly through your videos, I’m beginning to see what I need to do in order to live a happy, healthy and successful life. The biggest thing, and you said it in your last video, it’s gotta be on your own gumption. You can either feel sorry for yourself or you can make shit happen. And honestly, I choose happiness over the things that have brought me down, and it feels great to have hope for the future because nothing is worth your health and happiness. Alpha, I love your channel, it’s helped me discover some things about myself and somethings that will help me in life and I hope you keep up the awesome work. Looking forward to your next video. And will also be signing up for tiege Hanley soon. Take care, man.

Aaron, yet again you've hit it out of the park. I recently got sober, and my BetterHelp councilor has been with me every step of the way. I'm 54 days in, and I never thought I'd get this far. I don't know if BetterHelp is right for everyone, but I am so grateful that I found it. I wanted to thank you for making videos like this. You're turning a light on my friend, and that light might just help someone find there way home. Thank you.

It took me years to work through my personal demons where I was able to get the point that I have no problem talking about them and admitting them to others. By confronting things in my past that took me down the road of self destruction. For many years I drank and did cocaine to bury my problems trying to act like they existed. It got to the point that I couldn't look in the mirror and recognize or respect the person looking back at me. I went to counseling and let go of the guilt and anger and the baggage of my past. I stopped cold turkey with the drinking and drugs. When I did that, it was my world brightened up and I saw things more clearly and saw how much I had missed out on . Today I'm the happiest I've ever been because I finally like, love and respect myself
