Jon and I filmed a game for this June, but the files ended up being corrupted. He wasn't available to reshoot so I decided to try out the solo version of the game! Hope you enjoy it!

Beautiful board! I really enjoyed this, and it is a great demo of the solo rules. Snipers are clearly hung over.

I like the mixing of industrial and greenery as well. Lots of visual interest and playability. The fence project really shines in the video. I'm less excited about the solos rules. Most of the solo battle reps I watch are done with the standard rules and the player using theater of the mind to make the most logical choices for each side. The dice really told the story this battle. Swarms rule!

@@chrisboyd4433 Thanks! I really enjoy the overgrown post apocalyptic industrial park setting. :p Theater of the mind could be fun. I like to have another player when possible, but it's not always possible with schedule conflicts. I would like to try some co-op stuff at some point

Great video, the I.A is my biggest enemy, as you can see, you know what is going to do but you still losing. Jaja, great oponent.

Yea, they don't hesitate lol I think my best bet was going for a win by morale but I didn't realize that until it was too late

i played OPR solo but with 40k 2000pts armies...it was a waste of time. The solo rules is a common sense system which after 1 turn i gave up on. I found a random solo system on Dakka. It uses the same unit types as OPR but randomizes what each unit does.
@hauntswargaming6 ай бұрын
With my limited experience, the solo rules seem to replicate the next logical move well enough. You can always intervene if you don't want the army to do what the ai rules dictate ( get behind cover, go for another objective, etc) I did that a few times. Or randomized it with a roll. I also chose to give the ai a melee heavy list to keep it simple. Thanks for the comment!
@ericfrank49916 ай бұрын
Would it be advisable to start with solo play to better understand the OPR rules before introducing them to others? I'm considering this approach to familiarize myself with the game, so I can effectively explain and demonstrate it to my friends and get them interested in tabletop wargaming. Plus, I got two armies printed out (Dwarf Guild and Eternal Dynasty) and I am itching to get them on the board.

If you're planning on playing co-op it wouldn't hurt to run through a game or 2 solo. I think the 1v1 version is easier to learn, since there are a lot of extra steps with solo/Coop. Both are pretty easy to learn though.

I love doing solo games, but honestly if im playing solo it needs to be simple. I have been looking at d and d solo, but its too complex. Rangers of shadowdeep is similar and i realized i dont have a battle mat or terrain. Dont look back same thing. Plus they are both pretty complex. The best idea i have is to play heroquest solo using the app
@hauntswargaming6 ай бұрын
There are a lot of solo/coop games out there! You can always rely on theater of the mind if you aren't filming a video :p I've been putting together terrain to play some solo/coop stuff. it definitely takes a while to get a campaigns worth of terrain and minis together.

Nice clean video! I have a question about wound tests that I think was covered here, just not explicitly stated in the GFF rules: When a unit with tough(3) or higher takes 1 or more wounds, they automatically deduct from the tough until it has 1 tough/"HP" left. At that point it takes a wound test any time it takes 1 or more wounds. Is that correct?
@hauntswargaming6 ай бұрын
Yea, it's under the tough x rule. The roll has to be 5+x for a knockout.

Can this be used/adapted for playing Infinity?
@hauntswargaming6 ай бұрын
Never played infinity, but there are a lot of optional rules in the advanced rules. I wouldn't be surprised if you can.
