If they would've hired Michael Flatley to lead the Irish rugby Riverdance response to the haka that would've made the ABs laugh....and defused some of the testosterone the haka created. Hmmmm.....something for the Irish to consider for the next world cup.... 😂

Can't help but realise the South Africans have a completely different mindset to facing the haka than anyone else. It has never intimidated our greatest rivals. They thrive on it. The North could learn from the Boks instead of arrogantly belittling, ridiculing, minimising what they don't understand.
@princeoftheves1549
@princeoftheves1549 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's a big joke. The Bok players are classy but their fans are a bunch of blockheads singing "ole, ole." Also, pretty much every national team nowadays faces the haka without much fuss, even the NH teams. The fans though... Even Kiwi fans are bloody stupid at home games, cheering over the introductory stanza like a pile of idiots.

Dre Santos Great post. Let’s face it, the haka is in no way a friendly “let’s have a good game”. If a team doesn’t “respect” a bunch of guys threatening them the ABs need to have a think. I always remember Campese mucking about in the dead ball area when they did the haka. He didn’t care, why should he have ? I’m sure the triggered kiwis will get angry here. The ABs are superb, it’’s only a game of rugby, not captain cook landing on the shore.

9 years back the AB’s played Munster down in Thomand Park. At that time Munster was the only Irish team to have once won a match against them. They did the Haka and when it finished up steps 3 of Munsters New Zealand born player with Doug Howlett front and centre sending the challenge right back at them in the first Haka ever returned from a Northern hemisphere team. Spine tingling moment followed by a fierce game narrowly won by the AB’s.

Love the psycology and mind set of the players who take up, respect and honour the challenge understanding what the haka is about, it inspires those players to lift their game, thus drawing the very best out of them to compete at the highest level which enriches our game. If you don't understand that then may I suggest you take up a less physical and intellectual sport like pokemon go on your iphone 11, while sipping on a double decaf, low carb, double cup and triple lided for your saftey, trim soy and coconut water Laté 🏆🏉 Love from a Wallabies supporter.

Kiaora. It's not just a War dance. If it was, we wouldn't let our kids do it. It can be a challenge like this one the All Blacks use. It's like, I'm going to try and beat you and you are welcome to try and beat me. It is also used to congratulate or celebrate someones achievements. Or to welcome honoured visitors/guests to our Marae or country. It is only used as a War dance if you intend to kill the people you are showing it to, in times of actual war or battle. So it's not just a war dance. ✌🐹

To me, the Haka is like a gentleman's handshake before a dual/ fight/battle. So when teams stand there & face it, i see that as the opposing team returning the handshake If i'm about to put up a fight & i put my hand out for that hand shake & you turn your back on me, i will see that as a sign of disrespect, weakness, lack of confidence, arrogance, waste of time - like you are better than. It is probably why those teams who have rejected the AB's Haka/ handshake ( turned their backs/ opposing team's fans trying to drown out the Haka ) have lost. That is how i see the Haka. AB's putting their hands out for a respectful gentleman's hand shake. Respecting you as an individual player/ team, as well as acknowledgement of your time & pressence.

In this situation (Rugby Haka) they are appealing to their Ancestors & the Earth to summon the energy, strength & support. Also asking from all who have ever worn the Black Jumper past & present to assist in delivering the best possible outcome. (One of the lines in one of the Haka’s says . If we live, we live, if we die, we die.) Stating also to those beside, in front & behind you will leave everything out on the field on their quest. When the Haka is done. It is done with 100% Mana (Passion or Heart) or you don’t do it at all.

I hope they do sing and I hope the team joins in as well! If you are being challenged by a Haka you can respond to it however you wish. England, Ireland, Wales etc...have a tradition of singing...If that's how the choose to respond to the challenge then good on them.
