The Jamaica 2024 Budget Debates are in full swing! Opposition Leader Mark Golding recently gave his presentation and while people may be focused on… a different part of his speech, he also raised a few points.
So let’s talk about what he said and check some facts presented by him and Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke.

not only that thelabor section on Statin data collection deem a person who work an hour during one specific week as been employed, it also deem a person who go fishing at the river a moment employed, it also deem person working around the house for a family member even if they get a drink token as employ. so such data is not a legitimate data to describe sustainable employment which is what change economy.

In regards to the GDP, it would be interesting to know what the Real GDP is, that is accounting for inflation. This is important as the prices of the goods, GDP, can increase due to inflation but not due to an increase nor improvement in productivity. Also, with higher prices the consumer pays more dollars in taxes even if the the GCT remains the same. Also, the basket of goods used to measure inflation don't necessarily include all the goods the general consumer spends on, eg, tyres, insurance, clothes, shoes, rent,..... Therefore, the true inflation may be higher than actually reported.

How can the government give back money they don’t receive. They have to wait until the company pay over the taxes to return. I believe it’s a strategy to get companies to pay their taxes on-time. I find that some businesses are taking taxes from individuals and not paying it to the government. It happens to me personally with NHT. It’s a tax collection strategy….

Taxes did increase. Persons who did not pay taxes due to receiving allowances were force to pay taxes when these allowances were removed. Public and civil servants according to STATIN makes up the bulk of the nation's workforce. The government increased the taxation of these persons not by imposing new taxes but by introducing old taxes to people who were not paying it from the start! So yes people who were not paying taxes are now paying taxes so it is new taxes for them as it never applied to them or only partial applied to them at the start Regards

Where u all go wrong with swapping the 20k tax credit for 2mil tax break, well our finance min don't spend the money before we earn it. 20k is one time payment 2mil will be forever, we don't know what tax collections will be like next yr that's counting chicken before they hatch . The Coaster Bus Driver doesn't pay income tax,The minibus driver doesn't pay income tax, the taximan doesn't pay income yax,the fruit vendor doesn't pay income tax,the vegetable vendor doesn't pay income tax etc.Several people in society doesn't pay income tax.So raising the threshold to Markie G was suggesting only benefits certain people.

All of those people might not pay income tax, but they do go in to contribute to the NHT to access low income homes & it's the contribution from the higher salaries that benefit them. Also when they can no longer work or pay medical bills where do you think those benefits come from? They come from the spill down effects of the deductions from the higher salaries. Young lady can you see that the Jamaican dollar have no values at all, when the dollar is low in values. That is where it caused internal inflammation, because they purchasing power is less for the consumers.I heard the minister of finance Nigel Clarke is giving out some figures, about the budget and it is wrong. It really sad to say that none of the institutions in Jamaica, know how much money making a billion dollars. It does not matter what kind of degrees that they may have, they got the wrong teaching. Because Jamaica has changed from the real figure of a billion and trillion dollars,to the United States bogus system. I know that you are going to hear that I don't know what am saying,I been to school before a lot of them and. Jamaica was going by the British system, but as of late. Jamaica is adopted most of the United States system, which is a sub standard mechanism. Because the system that Jamaica is using like the United States,it is wrong,I am wondering. Where the minister of finance Nigel Clarke learned his accounting skills from, because I heard him saying that. The is 1.2 trillion dollars budget,if you added up all of the population money. I don't believe it will added up to one billion dollars,Nigel Clarke got caught up into a system. Which is giving him wrong teaching, because he is using the United States system which is wrong. That system only came in 1973 /74 , when they switched from the original money market numbers and. Created their own decimal point,by moving form the thirteen points to ten. It may have the same number in words, but not in true numbers. Jamaica is using the United States system which is wrong,by using a thousand million dollars and calling it a billion. It is wrong young lady, the United States is calling it short scale ⚖️ billion. The right billion dollars is one million times one million is a billion and. That is thirteen figures not ten like what the United States is using, they have brought up in that system, so it is really hard for them to understand what am saying.You cannot give your customers 3.5 quarts and called it a gallon. I am just using this as an example,a trillion dollars is 19 figures not 13 like what Nigel Clarke is using, because of the bad teaching that he got from school. In Mathematics one is not a whole number, because you cannot used it to find an answer. The thing I realized of late, that Jamaica is copying everything that the United States is doing but. Yet for all, some people is saying, that the United States education system is sub standard. Comparing to England but, some Jamaica parents is very anxious to send their children to schools in the United States.I strongly believes that if a system education is no good,then you shouldn't trying to copying their system. Jamaica becomes a copy cat 🐈 of the United States, and yet their education is no good according to some people. Jamaica is very much doomed based on the values, of the Jamaican dollar. I remembered when twenty Jamaican dollars could feed a family of about 10, almost for one week. I know in the 1970s it was about 32 Jamaican cents, for 6 lbs of flour and. Now the same 6 lbs of flour would caused how much now, because I am living in Jamaica.In 1978 I bought one thousand building blocks and,it was$22 Jamaican dollars for 100- 6 inches blocks.One truck load of sand ⌛ for $100 Jamaica for a 10 yards of sand.
