There has never been an actor that I've wanted to like as much as Cruise. One particular story I heard is about Cruise finding out that Bill Hader(who shared many of those iconic scenes in Tropic Thunder) was having a panic attack about being away from his wife and infant daughter in NYC when something bad happened. Cruise literally took over directing the scene, got all of Hader's coverage, and got him out in 45 min with a plane ticket for that night's red eye so he could go be with his family. I just wish he didn't have the chain of Scientology around his neck.

Another one of my favourite facts about Tom Cruise is that he became fluent in Japanese for Last Samurai. Also, a Kenjutsu master watched scenes from Last Samurai and said he was displaying the skill of someone who had been studying Kenjutsu for years.
