I may have also sold her an original copy of the "If You Can Believe Your Eyes And Ears" album, with the unedited "toilet" cover. She was surprised it was ever released with that cover. She was very happy to buy all of them. Another item I sold her was that set of the Hasbro Mamas & Papas dolls, new in the original packaging. Those are very hard to come by. California Dreaming makes me feel like walking down the street on an early winter day with the last autumn leaves painting the trees and the ground. Maybe riding a bike. Definitely tripping or enjoying the afterglow. That second line about the chuch is the best in the song and my favorite to sing. Boy Denny knocked that out the park. Pretend to pray fits the line best. Its innocent yet blasphemous to christians, but very much about just traveling and kindness. Pretending to pray tho the preacher isnt gonna kick him out anyway (tho he might i suppose he might if u stayed long enough) is a very playful, quirky lyric that brings to mind appeasing the closed minded old guard just to be nice basically while still being subversive. Bless the Mamas and the Papas and bless Michelle for living so long. Her harmonys with Cass were the first sound that warmed me up to the music of the 60s. So gorgeous, piercing and seductive, like a spell. Which makes sense for the Magick Circle. She was suuuuch a looker back in the day and has aged very gracefully. Chyna DEFINITELY inherited her mamas sunkissed Cali goddess looks. It would just be wild to talk with someone who was at ground zero of the hippy movement and experienced so much. So jealous i couldnt have enjoyed those days. But alas, im 35 and instead maybe ill get to enjoy a virtual reality recreation of Woodstock when the bombs finally drop. I'd like to think I'd have driven I-5 south to the Haight back in the 60s but I'd probably just be a poser up here in Seattle lol. This is the song i want to hear when the apocalypse hits

Thank you so much Chynna for this amazing presentation! In 1965 I was in 7th grade. Our beloved young hip English teacher, Ron Bodisch, in an effort to make us appreciate literature, played this song for us in class and asked us to examine what the theme of the song was as well as dissecting the lyrics. It was the first time I had heard it. From the haunting guitar intro, to the pensive flute on the bridge, as well as the rich lush harmonies, I was absolutely mesmerized! Yes, I was stunned! It was, and still is the most beautiful song I have ever heard! To this very day, and yes, I am in my 70s, it is still one of my very favorite songs that gives me goosebumps every single time I hear it. Michelle is not only stunningly beautiful (and still is), extremely talented and versatile, but more importantly, a wonderful human being. God Bless you Michelle and your family, and may John, Denny, and Cass rest in external peace..!!! Your legacy will live on long after we are all gone!

My mother passed away a little over 12.5 years ago, so seeing you with your mom brings me joy. I will pray for your mom to receive everlasting life -- my mother accepted Jesus just before she died -- it's a weird, cool story if you ever want to hear it. You both had me laughing aloud and I live alone ha! You both have such a sense of humor, and so beautiful to see a Mother and daughter so together in love and amazing how you both spontaneously said the words of that viewer's comment exactly together. Also you both could be models you're so beautiful, and wow Chynna you have such a beautiful voice too like your mother! Also spiritually, soulfully so grand to see such togetherness. I love the Mamas and the Papas, and from the very moment I heard them on my little six transistor radio I used to keep under my pillow. At night in the north country I could tune in stations from hundreds and thousands of miles away! I'd play tunes on my domed topped guitar that had the "F" holes like violins have. My guitar instructor found it in the dump with the back busted out of it. He cut to fit a dark wall panel for the back and painted a white line around it. He sold it to my mother for $25 and we had very little money. I looked it up and in 1965 $25 is $225 in today's money. Thanks for such a beautiful sharing!! I look forward to both of you or solo too doing more videos!! I liked and subscribed!

Mama's and Papa's were definitely a memory of my childhood that is indelibly fixed in permanent etchings of memories. Cass Elliot's premature death shocked everyone.

I grew up in New Haven, CT, in the days when it was still the people who made the records a hit, not big corporations. I saw a "pop up "record at my bus stope, and went in. I had a few minutes before my bus came, so I'd stop in. and saw mostly 45's. The guy's name was Dennis. When it was cold, I'd step in for a for a few minutes & he asked if I could listen to a few 45's & let him know if I thought it would be a hit or a miss. The song he play was "California Dreamin". I told him that not only was it a hit, it would be number 1. And so it was!!! Love you guys. Michelle, you are still a stunning beauty &I love to see you and Chynna together. God Bless You Both!!

Mama Michelle looks gorgeous here! The lines she wrote make the song. They have always spoken to me in some deep way. I think the preacher liking the cold is very meaningful because it is a statement on how we sadly need God the most when life is uncomfortable.

I'm very glad that I found this channel! I was a kid when The Mamas and The Papas burst onto the scene, and I remember some of my classmates raving over the group. It took me some time to warm up to them, but the line in Creeque Alley that went, "and everybody's getting fat except Mama Cass," which I heard while listening at a friend's house, sold me on them for good because I thought it was clever. I've also enjoyed listening to the Discograffiti Podcast of your mom on Osiris Media, which fills in a lot of the details of that period. The more I listen to the songs over the years, the more I like them!

I love that song! Every time I visited my daughter going to Pepperdine at the time , I would crank that song while getting ready!😝🎼 (& still listen to it!) I also watched Knotts Landing all the time📺. It was one of my favorites back then. How interesting this was seeing her & her record room & hearing her stories . Thanks for this! ❤🎉Peace of Christ to both of you!! 😇🙏🏼
