These are awesome. I got so excited when I saw this video was up, but was instantly bummed when I saw they don't make my size (women's 7). Sadly, this is a feeling I have often with skates. It's 2022... the women are out here (we've been out here) and we want skate options too! :) You should make a video on skates for smaller sizes feet! Please? Thank you!

Agreed. I think they’re aware and planning on it, especially with Chynna on the team, but first release is always tough to hit every need.

@@BacktoBlading Having Chynna on the team is a good point! She has such great flow... it makes my palms sweaty, haha! I saw she's rocking the Factions already so I wonder if she's got her own fit or if she just has larger feet. Regardless, I hope they come out with smaller ones! Also, the style of these reminds me a bit of the Seba CJ's. What are your thoughts comparing the two, riding wise? They also remind me of the USD Carbon's, but I don't think they make those in smaller sizes either :(
@aldolega
@aldolega 2 жыл бұрын
Chynna wears about a men's US7. A women's 7 is roughly a men's 5.5. You can find small sizes in the Roces M12, Seba CJ/SX, USD Aeon, Adapts, Them 908/909, USD Sway, and probably in the Blank skate later this year.
@shelbylbennett
@shelbylbennett 2 жыл бұрын
@@aldolega Thanks so much for the suggestions! I have some of those on my comparison list I’m putting together, but ultimately may hold out for these or the Blanks. If you happen to stumble upon Sebas in a men’s size 5 in the US let me know! I’ve been hunting but there are also so many different Seba models (CJ, SX, Prime, Carbon, CJ2, etc.) that I haven’t even researched all the differences yet 😂 regardless, they’ve been tough to find! So curious how those and the Factions compare 🤓

I've been skating K2s since 1998 (Fatty Pro, Style Points, and now 2012 Varsity), and I am planning on getting a new pair of blades soon. I was interested in THEM 909s, but these new Faction skates caught my attention (even at the higher price). You saying that the heel of these has that "K2 style lean-back" feel is selling me even more on these. Gonna check out your second video review. I think these may be a better choice for me than the 909s. Let me know your opinion if you can. Thanks!

I just got some USD Carbons 2021, size 9, coming from Razors SL’s size 9. I’ve been on SL’s since ‘08 so this exciting trying something else. I feel like they might be a bit too big. I do really like how they seem to perform though… they feel solid. The fit just seems a bit off. I just ordered some size 8 that hopefully get here by Thursday. Hopefully they fit good and could maybe sell my size 9 ones off eBay or something.

The shell breaks are actually the main thing that has me hesitating on purchasing these skates. According to the Faction site the 43 shell has an internal measurement of 285 and the 44 a 295. With my foot being close to a true 44 at around 283ish my foot will most likely be too big for the 43 and have too much space in the 44. Everything else looks fantastic with these skates. Sadly I'm just not sure the shell breaks are right for me.

I’ve given this feedback while I was there and hopefully we’ll see some clarity. Each shell is 10mm longer, so that might help

@@BacktoBlading As they put the 10.5 and 11 in the same shell it makes sense that it would be larger than a standard 10.5 in order to accommodate the 11. From what I've seen if a company makes a "10" shell it it usually would be for 10-10.5(43-44). On the other hand if you are a true 11 these have got to be perfect.

This is madness...IMO.. its not a new boot its a usd carbon (attempt) with an over engineered usd shadowish soul plate on.....IMO The 8 soul screws are more hassle to remove, esp when soul material covers half the screw for negligible benifit...IMO Removable liners (carbon 4s) also come with issues such as movement in the shell..(eliminated with an intigrated liner)..IMO Who needs stretch toes when the whole boot (usd carbon) including intigrated liner is heat mouldable to your specific foot and available in individual shell sizes?...IMO Im glad theres more options but taking and existing idea (carbons and shadow souls) is not very original..... I PERSONALLY would rather stick with USD who created this idea and have a decade of carbon boot experience behind them.... I hope the next boot company brings us something unique and different! (Thems are an open mould but jj has made them unique! **this is all my initial thoughts and opinions and i have not actually rolled these**

It seems really shortsighted to think that just because USD worked with carbon, no other company can. After all, if that were the case there would be no USD Carbon as Deshi was the first to make a carbon boot (yes, I realize it's all Powerslide when it comes down to it). Faction is taking inspiration from other companies, yes, but this is absolutely a new boot. It's odd to nitpick some of this stuff but give Them a pass for doing their own thing with an open mold (also check out how many screws go into a Them soul plate).

@@Rollerbalder not sure if you read what i wrote but im not saying no other company can use carbon .... im saying it would be better if they came up with a new idea....i mean why is this boot better then a usd carbon with shadow souls, why should i buy this when usd has been doing it very well for a decade .... same for sebas, (aint that an open mould)....why buy them over carbons....? (Obv who you are feeling and who you wish to support comes into it, but im saying boot to boot what the unique selling point?)
@Rollerbalder
@Rollerbalder 2 жыл бұрын
@@cheeseface99 Fair enough, boot to boot I can't point out anything I'd necessarily call an upgrade, but fit is everything. If there are people who want a carbon skate but for whom USD Carbons don't feel great for whatever reason, it's great that they'll have another option. Maybe they do want to skate a specific liner, maybe this cuff works better, maybe they like that style soul and they want all of this in one package instead of trying to modify existing skates. You make some good points, I just don't think it's "madness." And ultimately, a new skate brand is a good thing for an industry that all too often has skirted by on old tech.
