Lewis can't read the game's UI, you guys were right. BURNER inserters Lewis! They NEED coal to work, they are using the coal that should be on the boilers, replace them as soon as fucking possible.

+100Peterll it not that the burner inserters are using to much coal, its that they dont know how to double up belts on resources as well as mine coal fast enoough. electric inserters just mean that that more electricity is being used.

+100Peterll But one piece of coal fuels a burner inserter for around 90 seconds of *continuous use*. Personally, I only use burner inserters picking from yellow belts to fuel my boilers. In case your coal mines get tapped out and your power production stops completely, you don't need to seed the boilers with coal. The burner inserters should have plenty of fuel left to pick coal off the belt and restart the process. When Lewis 'upgraded' to the red belts for fuel input, the burner inserters couldn't pick the coal fast enough, and the moving of the arm uses some stored fuel, until the burner inserter has no fuel to pick up the coal to fuel itself. I'm feeding 60 steam engines with 84 boilers and 84 burner inserters on yellow belts in my current factory, no issues. I switched from 6 electric drills mining coal to a solid fuel setup, since oil was only a few tiles away from my steam engines.

Dook Leeto​ the burner inserters are the worst though because you have to fuel them yourself in a game of automation.(Electrical) Inserters are fully automatic.

+William Halley The burner inserters fuel themselves with the coal they pick up automatically, so they are fine for use on any coal line, however, it would still be more efficient to use electric inserters, but considering until now I have always stuck to burner inserters on my coal lines, I am fine with their usage here

One pump is enough for 14 boilers and 10 steam engines. Each Steam Engine needs 1.3 boilers. The fact they haven't had full power this entire series is killing me.

+Tunder8989 Someone has done their research :P In truth, I had a similar power setup to Lewis, but I was running into the same sort of issues with temperature, I think the biggest issue with their setup is the forks in the water pipes

They're so hyped that they've researched solar power yet they're going to need 216 solar panels to power the 14MW of power their factory is using. To store this for 100s (overnight) they would need 1.4GJ stored in accumulators. That's 300 accumulators! They've really not thought this through :)

+Billy Alton You're also forgetting they'll have steam power alongside it. It'll pick up some slack from the accumulators, reducing the need there, and for the solars during the day, meaning they can have as many or as few as they want... also, they said COVER THE DESERT!

The steam engines will produce at its full capacity (0.5 MW) if you make sure the available production is full (to do that you have to make sure every steam engine has 2 boilers and 1 pump or at least that's my setup and I my steam engines run at full cap)

0:12 hilarious how Lewis thinks STEAM BOILERS are pumping out "pollution". They literally produce no pollution, its all steam. Steam is water. The boilers however produce pollution as they burn the coal, if im not mistaken. 1:07 yep "Boiler - Pollution: 6", steam engines have no pollution.

Is there a mod that gives you giant versions of the existing buildings? So that, instead of needing 20 steam engines or 40 furnaces, you can build just... 2 or 4 of them. But they're huge. Like mega versions of the stock buildings that cost more and take up more space, but are correspondingly more productive.

I really don't like the way the electric network ui stuff is set up. The consumption bar is confusing because it makes it look like you are not using anywhere near the amount of power that you are producing, but all of your inserters are moving really slow because you are actually really not making anywhere near as much power as you need to be.

Your pump/boilers/engines setup is too inefficient. Keep the temp at 100 degrees, a lot of your engines are at 50-60. 1 pump + 14 boilers + 10 engines is enough. The wiki says each engine needs 1.31 boilers.
