In this video we do another Factory Base Tour, covering Faulkner's 10k SPM Megabase that uses HUGE trains with over 100 wagons, bots and belts to create a sprawling factory. There is over 13,000 hours of time on this map, and more rockets launched than I've EVER seen before! This is truly the biggest factory / map I've ever seen in my time playing Factorio. Wait until you see the all time production graph and number of rockets launched, as well as how big the actual map is.

Factorio is a game in which you build and maintain factories.
You will be mining resources, researching technologies, building infrastructure, automating production and fighting enemies. Use your imagination to design your factory, combine simple elements into ingenious structures, apply management skills to keep it working and finally protect it from the creatures who don't really like you.
Join forces with other players in cooperative Multiplayer, create huge factories, collaborate and delegate tasks between you and your friends. Add mods to increase your enjoyment, from small tweak and helper mods to complete game overhauls, Factorio's ground-up Modding support has allowed content creators from around the world to design interesting and innovative features. While the core gameplay is in the form of the freeplay scenario, there are a range of interesting challenges in the form of the Scenario pack, available as free DLC. If you don't find any maps or scenarios you enjoy, you can create your own with the in-game Map Editor, place down entities, enemies, and terrain in any way you like, and even add your own custom script to make for interesting gameplay.

@Blind Bob No, it doesn't have any application in "real world", fizz buzz also does nothing useful and that is not their goal to solve problems like hunger in world. Creative projects like working computer in minecraft or 3d engine in factorio are something difference that shows how passionate you are about computers, problem solving, algorithms and definitely stand out in a pile of boring CV. Of course if you want to get a job as a engineer you have to have necessary skill and save like this can by only cherry on top :)

Fun fact: When Germany invaded the USSR, hundreds of factories producing war material such as ammunition were evacuated over the Ural mountains. A single ammunition factory that was evacuated used about 7000 rail cars. So, this is still nothing compared to a real factory... either that or the Soviets hadn't figured out making rail cars bigger on the inside yet.

@@kibkatara1204 DLSS is a feature that dynamicly reduces resolution to achieve stable frame rates so that is a moot point. Also while the game is not demanding graphicly it has a lot of moving parts compared to a typical game that focuses on graphics and simple systems in comparison, and the fps only gets low when your base is ridiculously huge with an extreme amount of calculations. Also no one is running graphicly demanding games at 100fps at 8k and RTX turned on, just not a possibility right now so that is just a big exaggeration.

And I really liked the long trains that get all mats for production in each cargo wagon and works as a depot on arrival. Makes total sense to have huge amount of mats on huge trains when used like this. Less belts, less trains running about = better efficiency and FPS... a lot of smart stuff here... and agree on oil production - no robots needed...

This factory consumes *2 million units* of water *per minute* - for a total of *1 trillion* during play time. To put that into perspective: If we assume that one unit of water is a standard _barrel_ then this base consumes the entire waterflow of the Niagara river at its mouth (or Niger, Uruguay, Detroit, etc. - they are all in the same ballpark) - i.e. if you put the falls into this base, the basin would stay empty.

One thing to say about these junctions is that many trains are so huge that common sense doesn’t apply anymore. The short chain sections of traditional junctions are irrelevant when the trains are so much longer still. And then what are you going to do if you have two junctions within 800 meters of each other? Correct signaling would put them all in the same chain section. That’s the scope of junction design now. You can see how unconventional arrangements come into play here. I imagine throughput could still be good with so many wagons traveling back to back, and with long sections guaranteeing a decent average speed despite slow acceleration whenever it’s free.

When that's the case if I have some prod or speed modules on me and I'm passing I'll bang them in just to keep it going flat out for a few days longer. @@Alex-bl8uh Well Unfortunately the map is dead. In the end I had launched just over 5 Million Rockets and had Mining Prod of over 16000%. However it turns out that factorio has a technical limit to how long a Map can last which is 4 Billion ticks of UPS. There is a work around however you lose all your stats and there are some problems, so I decided to take a break from the map and play a new map. I'm waiting for the expansion and then I may start a new map.

Additional comment on FPS.. move from nuclear to solar power is also a way to get better FPS as solar unfortunately is still in Factorio 1.1 way better for FPS than nuclear power... I go steam - nuclear until main base (and often 2nd intermediate base) is complete and up - then transition to solar when solar train is up and running fully and solar power is more than nuclear power. Sad as I love the nuclear plant layouts and look. Not many uses of centrifuges and they are cool looking machines. And on top of this - using console command to remove pollution really helps FPS - and at this stage both pollution and biters are not needed and can be removed to help the fps... Removing pollution actually helps a lot more than removing biters FYI....
@scottbarbary5112
@scottbarbary5112 3 жыл бұрын
Your right about removing pollution but the point of this map is 100% vanilla with no mods. So pollution and bitters stay even though they eat up the UPS. I also love nuclear and I'm sad it has to go. One of the changes the game could do with is a use for Uranium in the normal science production. I have often put forward that you could use nuclear train fuel instead of rocket fuel for lunching rockets and then it uses less actual rocket fuel to launch a rocket.

Train throughput is probably so low (like in real life) that junction/intersection "performance" doesn't really matter at all.
@scottbarbary5112
@scottbarbary5112 2 күн бұрын
It matters an incredible amount. That's why there is that massive junction from the main stacker that allows often 5 trains to leave the stacker at once. Sometimes I've altered a junction and made it better and seen huge improvements to the base causing it to run low on power and had to put down another 500k solar panels.
@SimonWoodburyForget
@SimonWoodburyForget Күн бұрын
@@scottbarbary5112 I don't think you understand. I'm saying it doesn't matter as much as when using many smaller trains. It's fairly logical that train throughput is proportional to the number of trains. This means with longer trains you need fewer trains and thereby need a lower train throughput.

What's the point in using productivity modules in most of the assemblers he's using when he already has near-infinite resources? Wouldn't putting in speed modules instead be better?
@Xterminator
@Xterminator 3 жыл бұрын
It will still helps with not requiring as much input ingredients so there is less strain on the train and bot / belt systems. And also depending on the item being made, putting prod Modules in the assemblers and speed beaconing them can actually produce more items per Minute than full speed.
@scottbarbary5112
@scottbarbary5112 3 жыл бұрын
There is this mis conception that 12000% is like having infinite resource it's not. Since the video went up I have run out 3 Copper, 1 Iron and 1 Stone patch and because about 6 months ago I put a bunch of miner arrays on copper patches around my base I can see them all running out at about the same time probably in the next few weeks. Xterm is also correct in his comment that a fully beaconed assembler actually makes slightly more per second with prod mods in it but most important is it still means less UPS is being used. UPS is EVERYTHING when building a megabase and is my most important resource..

Probably a noob question but how are they not running out of ore on the map with that kind of production?
@Xterminator
@Xterminator 3 жыл бұрын
So he has such a high level of the Mining Productivity research that it effectively makes the Ore patches infinite. Each level of mining prod research adds 10% of productivity to miners (basically a free piece of Ore for every 10 mining cycles). So if you have level 10 of that research, you're basically getting 2 Ore the cost of 1, effectively doubling the Ore patch value. He had hundreds of levels of it, so even if he was mining on a 10mil richness Ore patch, he would get probably 200mil Ore from. Hope that makes sense. :)

i have done a base 10,000 of science per minute in less than 150 hours and designing all the modules, i don't know if anyone will surpass this, i'm serius , i'm looking on youtube for something better and can't find it. any info ?¿? For adding more information, even though I don't think anyone is going to read this, I have played factorio for so long and came up with a brilliant, simple idea that completely scales the game. You start by placing everything in a random, disorganized way, and the first exponential improvement is to create a main bus. The second improvement is a modular base that outplays the main bus. I thought, what if I could build a module of modules base, just like the exponent of that? And yes, it's possible. In fact, I have designed three different versions. It's a module of modules that produces 1000 science per minute. If you set up 10 of those ( the time it takes to set it is 10 min per module of modules approx), you can produce 10,000 science per minute. And it's infinitely scalable. You can add another module of modules and have 11,000, or even a module of modules of modules and have 10,000 per module set up. I don't know, does anyone know what type of bases are the largest? Sorry for the spelling mistakes, I don't know English well
