Given the size of infestation are you even outDPSing them? Are you killing more than grows back between recharges?

In short: yes. I focussed on the north-western and western front only for quite some time. And separately. So either north or west. I cleared only so much that it was worth repositioning my laser turret defense (wall, turrets, roboports - will be in the next video). It worked. But it took too much time ^^

Biters will always be replaced for free, but nests and worms don't grow back, so as long as you're killing some of those, you're making progress.
