So, one option for ensuring you always have a way to build, even when you are off world is build a tank with roboports. With the 2.0 update, tanks now have an equipment grid, and can be remotely controlled, making them a good player proxy. I use a few tanks to manage the outer defenses of my base, where the roboports of my main base can't reach.

Great designs. I agree that the game has changed A LOT, playing vanilla again would feel weird jajaja. Interesting to see your planing in excel XD. Such a nice island in fulgora!!! it has a lot of buildable space. 17:15 You can go to the norther land by train with elevated rails over water, so there is no path for the bitters to invade ^^ This thing I discovered recently: In the map view you can use the search (at the top right in the border there is the magnifier icon and I think control F works too) and if you write "copper", it would signal you every copper patch in the revealed map and the quantity it has. The same for any other resource.
@rolletroll2338Ай бұрын
Yeah, hte game is different, but far more interesting. The end game has always been tedious in vanilla, but now you have a thousand tings to optimize on each planet and sapce platform, and each step is rewarding. I cant go back to the normal factorio

I wish I could make them quicker!! Simple fact is that I'm playing the game for 30-40 hours a week at the moment and it takes 40-60 hours of gameplay to make an episode. I also kinda prefer to make fewer episodes of the quality I want rather than more episodes but worse. I'm on twitch sundays and wednesdays 3-8 UK time if that takes your fancy.

I think it looks very nice with the elevated rails, but just as a side note. If mech armor is among the first things you want to research after going to space, trains won't be able to kill you anymore, as you will hover over them automatically, with the armor on. Might influence future rail network decisions :3

Those non-neighboring nuclear reactors hurt me.
@theotherbigfootАй бұрын
I have a regular viewer who believes I do things just to troll people. It was the nuclear reactors which triggered him into the accusation. I do occasionally do stupid things intentionally. It's not an unwarranted accusation. Most of the times I do this with nuclear, however, is because I'm trying to make something work with the rest of the factory's geometry. It is the last thing I build so it needs to fit in with everything else that came before. It isn't a mission critical item in my world, as long as it makes enough power I don't really care how it makes that power. So long, I guess, as it fits in the space. The number of turbines is correct for the amount of power I'm making though. It might be wrong, but the numbers still add up.
@antonuramerАй бұрын
@@theotherbigfoot At least align them on the platform when you build it, so you don't have to fly back to Nauvis as much to pick up more cells :D
@theotherbigfootАй бұрын
@@antonuramer One nuclear reactor seemed to do the job just fine on my last playthrough. Worst cast it'll need two, in which case they'll be placed side by side. Size of factory in space IS a mission critical thing.
@antonuramerАй бұрын
@@theotherbigfoot my current ship is also a single reactor, and for the inner 4 planets it's definitely enough, but for Aquilo I think I'll need at least 2
@Nyha.nАй бұрын
@antonuramer i have quite a normal sized aquilo ship, it uses only about 40mw max from one reactor and some solar panels (both rare) so 2 would be overkill for me idk about how much normal quality would make tho
@anonymousperson2886Ай бұрын
Can't wait to see you try to jam quality into that scrap recycling spreadsheet
@theotherbigfootАй бұрын
To be able to include quality I would need a detailed breakdown of all the probabilities of achieving all the various tiers of quality for every object in the game. If someone can give me that then I would at least think about including it. Each planet would probably need two sheets, one for basic vanilla and then one for quality. It's not impossible. The probability breakdown would be the key though.
@angeldude101Ай бұрын
@@theotherbigfoot Any given quality chance can be modeled as a matrix where each cell is the chance of getting a given quality output for a given quality input. In general, with x% quality, the chance of the output being the same quality as the input is 100% - x%, and the chance of going up by one or more quality levels is x%. After it's determined to increase the quality, it has a separate 10% chance to increase the quality again, repeated for each level. So with 5% quality and a common input, you have a 95% chance for a common output, 4.5% chance for an uncommon output, and a 0.5% chance for a rare output. (Epic and legendary are unlocked later on other planets.) With an uncommon input, it's instead 95% chance for an uncommon output and 5% chance for a rare output. The final matrix with form a triangular matrix (upper or lower depending on whether you compose from left to right like normal people, or right to left like mathematicians), and aside from the last (unlocked) row/column, the matrix will be to an extent self-similar, where shifting the cells down and right one would give the same values in those cells as it had initially. While the general shape of the matrix stays the same, the exact values it has depends on the specific quality modules you have, what their quality is, how many you're using, and also any speed modules (in the machine or in beacons) you're using (since speed modules have quality penalties). Productivity, whether from the machine, productivity modules, or productivity research, could also be modeled in the matrix as a simple scalar multiplier. Recyclers would also be similar, but with a constant coefficient of 0.25 (and possibly some trickery to pass through max-quality outputs without recycling).

@@angeldude101 My man, my dude, my legend. That is a mighty fine key you have just put in front of me. I got some work to do.
@angeldude101Ай бұрын
@@theotherbigfoot I fancy myself more of a mathematician than an engineer, so I got really excited when I realised I could model multiple steps of a quality chain as a product of matrices. Recycler loops I just handled by taking sufficiently large matrix powers (like 1000 or so). I've been using a small script to inform me of the ideal combinations of prod and quality modules in recycler loops, and it's interesting how it changes depending on the exact modules involved.
@theotherbigfootАй бұрын
@@angeldude101 Yeah, I'm the opposite. Engineer first, mathematician second. I won't be doing any matrice manipulation, I'm just gonna treat it like a series of probabilities. Scripts are well beyond my capability.

Definitely way too late by now, but couldn't you set requests on a roboport for construction bots, go into the steel chest and mark the con-bots for removal? That way the logi-bots would pick up the con-bots from the chest and go put them into the roboport. That would have probably worked. I don't know for certain though as I've never been in that situation and needed to try it.
@angeldude101Ай бұрын
Marking con bots for removal counts as a construction request, not a logistic request, so it'd need construction bots to remove the construction bots.
