Congrats! Big step! It is now official. Now you are to an even more interesting part. Most people run out of steam at this point. So keep videoing. The finish work is still really interesting and important.

Getting the Vin# and the related expenses is so different from state to state. I had my car pretty much done a year before I moved to Florida. I did not want to pay personal property tax, registration and license cost just to do it all over again in Florida so I waited. Fortunately, The Florida DMV was pretty easy to work with and it was less expensive.

What was the process of getting your Vin# in Florida? I'm trying to figure that out

Great Story! I'm so happy this all worked out so well. I'm going to Indy for the U.S. Nationals in 2 weeks. Maybe we'll see you there next year!

It feels great to get the plates! Driving it around now before bodywork helps with checking it at out as well. I already made some substantial changes to ride height. Fun time to figure out all of the details.

Glad it all worked out for you... but... You'd already put in all the wrench time on the most difficult parts of the car. Why go through all that with inspectors just too potentially have to do it again when you only had minor things to finish (wipers, mirrors, seatbelts, horn)? why not finish the car 1st?

There is plenty of logical reasons and the original officer I talked too said it was not going to be an issue. I will not have wipers. Seatbelts were installed already, horn was working, just not the decorative button. I just did not have mirrors since the ones that came with the car do not work with the car and there was no way I was going to drill hole for something I am not using. Also, it was the only time I could schedule that it was not raining to bring a open car to the DMV. In AZ it rains for 2 months strait every day and you have to schedule these appointments in advance. Some people finish the car fully and get it licensed, and others like to road test the car for 500 miles before painting. I am doing the later. Plus since I am in the city there is no way for me to test the car without it being licensed.

@@StreetRodJim LOL that was a long walk to get to "I don't know what color I want". Can't wait to see it all done! Separate Question: What do you wish you knew about this model before building it that you know now?
@StreetRodJim
@StreetRodJim 3 жыл бұрын
@@chipwoods2311 Nothing really. I really spent about 2 years planning and researching before pulling the trigger. This included taking a ride in one, and going to build school. I also bought a C5 which basically had the same engine and trans, so it was a preview of what it would be like performance wise. The only thing I can say since this is my first build... is this is a very small car and there is not a lot of room to upgrade or add technology. There is just no room for it. If I have a build under my belt before, I would have known that when taking a ride or at build school, but it did not stand out to me at the time. Removing the HVAC system gives you some space back, but I am keeping that.
