Why do trail geometry frames always have chainstay brakes?

These days i'd say it's mostly to keep with the style of old. But SS brakes could require a thicker SS tubes increasing weight or cost if butted, also trails frames typically have bigger sprockets for torque, so the clearance is there for CS brakes. CS brakes typically bite better too.

I never rode and s and m Frame but I’m still riding the same s and m pitchfork xlt from 2008/20010. I know why they hold up. I have two bike a FBM berserker 2.0 maybe is what they called it. Maybe a 2.5. And the first generation standard 21inch 250s. Which later became the 250 L. Just no street modifications. That ox platinum has served me well. Rick powder coated it twice for me. I still love s and m to death but it seems like they are loosing their original roots man. Over seas isn’t where the root of bmx (golden era) is. But I get it. You have to adjust with the times. Still watch and love and support you Chris in any way I can. I always loved my 3 best. Hell fit was like metal. I loved em. They were good. I rode the metal dagger but I didn’t like that euro bottom bracket and the issues with the threaded cups to crank. Still. I loved the American made. Maybe it’s because I’m trails at heart and street when you can’t see the lines. No person will ever pay as much on bmx as a trails rider that rode steer at night. Thank god for the Supra J and Supra e. Thank good for more than just the profile crank. Yes Matt I broke 2 of them!

US made parts by S&M have generally increased in quality over the years. The Taiwanese bikes under the Fit name are no different to any other brand of the same cost price.
