This is probably the most emotional inducing song ever made. It tells the tragedy of our failure to save ourselves from ourselves. It also tells how that failure becomes our only legacy, the only thing preserved after we are gone. The factories still work, but all of the people are gone and the planet is uninhabitable to life. And then there’s Kirby, a being of pure joy and innocence, having to trek through it, observe so much of this tragedy. This song really makes you feel all of those things. You don’t get control of your heart, this game gets the steering wheel and tugs at your heart strings.

love the whole thing going on with the drums. the kick sounds normal but it sounds like a low tom is in a hi-hat role and the snare's place is taken by a metal smashing sound. really went all out on the industrial vibe for the industrial level. ty for making these vids theyre super illuminating

Ahh, I always thought that the mizmar was a bagpipe for the longest time. I always love the sound of that instrument and how it adds a serene feeling 😊 especially contrasting from the more chaotic sounding engines and piano slams! I still love them all!

It most likely is a bagpipe, since bagpipes are more commonly used and sampled. For some reason though I thought it was a mizmar. You tend to mix up similar sounding instruments when making videos like these! EDIT: Just checked the sound sources for K64, and you're right, it's a bagpipe!

That said, don't want that to detract from how amazing of a deconstruction you made here! Been listening to it lots lately! Really makes me appreciate this song and realise how every instruments make it what it is. If you ever decide to revisit K64's ost for deconstructed, I'd love to hear the song "Ruins" as that has my favourite use of the bagpipes.

I really enjoyed this but I'm curious as to reasons why the full song here might sound different than the original. Maybe it's just me but it feels like original has more reverb, at least with the bells.

It's not just you, the original definitely has more reverb. The bells have more resonance in the original soundtrack too. The program I use for ripping N64 soundtracks convert them into MIDIs, which strip the songs from the reverb they had in their original form.

The chimes sound off, like the dampener pedal isn't being pushed in this deconstruction but it is in the original (so it's not resonating here but it should be)

Yeah, the program I use for ripping N64 soundtracks can be inaccurate at times. I've thought about using my own tubular bells as a substitute, but those didn't really sound right with the soundtrack. It's definitely frustrating.
