Nice to see how this is done. At work, I do inspections for safety and one of the things I look for is adequate lighting. So when I saw this video I was sensitive to seeing how many light bulbs in the ceiling were not working. :) Otherwise, there was so much new here.

Really interesting, thank you. Especially the haptic display (thanks Garen)- when I ride in London you cant take your eyes off for a second and being able to feel an acknowledgement from the controls would be amazing. Also- the display connection with your phone- absolutely basic level necessity for sat nav guidance yet I don't know any high end e-bike that has it. All the bike computers like Garmin, Wahoo and Mio are hopeless compared to a phone. Anyway thanks again :)

Great job Mikey with explaining this process moving forward. Love the new infographix color displays that simulate an auto dashboard. I remember seeing this brand on some E-bikes from the 'not so well known' company E-bikes. Cannot remember which ones off hand. Safe travels back to the US!

"Haptic feedback" is the term I think you're looking for. This was a very interesting video - I actually have two bikes that have one of their displays and didn't know they were made by the same company, let alone that they were made by this company (APT). They were just advertised as "TFT Color Display". It'd be nice to see some discussion with their engineers about what motivated them to create each of the products, problems they faced, tradeoffs they had to make, etc.

APT needs a demo guy to explain what each machine does. Super cool to see the manufacturing aspect of these displays and tech in general.

Their staff was pretty good at English, and they did their best. It would seem there is a chasm between technical Chinese and technical English, because each place I went to the guide wouldn't dare venture into surface level technical words.

I have a customer that brought in a iGO extreme 3.0 with 500S APT Display. I need the 4 digit password to access display. I emailed APT and they gave me a link to purchase an other Display. Any help would be appreciated. Customer would like to get going for summer.

For better or worse, you'll be seeing more tours like this. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time and resources to carry much equipment, and the schedule was tight as well. I sincerely wanted to stay longer at each location, and give them much more attention and quality of video, but alas...

Yeah, an ultrasonic welder does just that. While the two pieces are clamped together, they are vibrated at a very high frequency, enough to enduce molecules of the the two pieces to combine as one. This is known as ultrasonic welding. It's always amazed me that this same technology, ultrasonics, when driven at a different frequency and amplitude, can produce images from the womb. Totally amazing technology.

Does China and-or the far east take electric bikes more seriouly than the west, such as US. And if so, is that made possible by their goverments recognizing the needs and benefits, and then posdible subsidizing the factories to ensure it all works out? Ebikes are good in certain areas, short distances, good weather, good mileage, etc, but still a lack of them in US from what I see. Ive seen a handful of gas powered, slightly noiseier and polluting..but greater power and distance, bikes, but maybe only 1 or 2 ebikes in my area .. PA.
@BlueMonkeyBicycles5 жыл бұрын
All the places I visited had city roads with wide expansive bike lanes. Electric scooters and conventional bicycles are the most common vehicle, with busy bees scurrying to and fro. The bike lanes are protected by a curb, and a half fence of metal bars, with breaks every couple blocks. It's quite clear that the Chinese government supports domestic use of electric and HPV with very comfortable lanes (Intersections are a very different story) From what I understand, the Chinese government does subsidize many enterprises by paying for some or all the shipping cost, as well as other kick-backs for local development or job creation. As far as anything eBike specific, I don't know of anything in particular. I do know that there is a serious pollution problem, and it hurts them the most. If there's a government out there capable of fast action, it's the Chinese. So I suspect that when it starts to hurt them enough, they will make moves to lower pollution, and I think that cultural history of bicycle transportation is in their favor.
@Seafox00115 жыл бұрын
China is well known as an historical bicycling nation - so the evolution to e-bikes is a natural step forward. In the US ICE transport quickly took over from horses and so there's a different heritage. E-bikes in the west have become high value items - unless you are prepared to build your own using imported parts from China. The nominal price for an e-bike needs to come down to under 1500$ to become a serious mass market product IMO.

@@Seafox0011 thanks ... i do ride a plain bike also about 1 to 3 miles to get some exercise and buy at the store, but gas or ekectric would make it practical to double the distance, say out to 7 mikes.

I ride with these displays such a loong time ago, they produced her displays for all the (great) bafang mid-motor lines, like the bbs1-2 and bbshd and i had almost 20+ on many bikes and all of these works great! only problem are the "higo" connectors...piece of crap...but thats not her fault... But wat strange sound comes from the guy with the glasses, almost at the end of these nice clip?! Hmmmm...
