Facts About Bob Marley's White Father Norval Marley

A brief timeline of the life of Norval Marley, the enigmatic father of reggae legend Bob Marley.
Norval was born in Clarendon, Jamaica to Albert Thomas Marley and Ellen Broomfield who both originated from Southern England. He had one older brother called Robert.
Despite carrying the title captain, he was not a captain.
It’s rumoured Norval was a plantation overseer, although there is no evidence to support this claim and is most likely sensationalist fiction to paint a white slave master narrative.
During World War I Norval travelled to England where he joined the British Army in August 1916 at Liverpool, enlisting in the Labour Corps, which incidentally was the same regiment my own great grandfather served under.
In 1944 Norval married 18 year old Cedella “Ciddy” Malcolm. He was around 60 at the time
Cedella gave birth to their son Robert Nesta Marley on 6th February 1945. No other children arose from this relationship and the couple separated after a short time due to Norval’s philandering.
Norval was brought up on charges of bigamy after Ciddy filed a complaint

Before judging people from the past by the standards of people living today, we should at least try to see things from the perspective of the cultural norms of the era in which they lived. Before the introduction of modern medicine, you were lucky to live past your 40s, and the only form of social mobility for women to survive was dependency on men. These kinds of evolutionary pressures meant that marriage and producing offspring at very young ages was the norm in every society across the entire world. If you think 16 was young, you better not pick up a history book, as it wasn't uncommon for girls as young as 12 to legally marry. Even today, in places like Nigeria for example, the age of consent is 11, but you'll hear very little outrage from the cultural relativist liberals and those who like to spew anti-white rhetoric. The fact is, Cedella married Norval one month before her 19th birthday. But even if she was 16 when they first met, it's naive to assume that Cedella was so fragile and feeble-minded that she was somehow "coerced" into marrying Norval almost three years after the relationship began. As gross as it sounds, Cedella had every incentive to pursue Norval, despite the age gap. Judging from historical accounts, she wasn't the only one either.

Norval Marley was sniffing around Cedella from she was about 14. Not sure why a beautiful Goddess would've wanted with this over the hill coloniser and it is documented that she was raped. Never have I heard that she married him and if she did I can assure you at that time it was definitely not for love Jamaica was still an apartheid state then and also please note that Mr Marley never mind him neither and his family did not recognise Bob either. Do you have the receipts for the rape? Norval was a terrible and absent father, but Bob was never "shunned". Bob was born in wedlock. It's also factually incorrect that Norval's family didn't recognise Bob. In fact, after they separated, Norval wanted Ciddy to have Bob raised by his brother Robert, who Bob was named after, to give Bob a better education and eventually join the Marley family business. This is all documented in Timothy White's book, "Catch a Fire". Which is the definitive biography on Bob's life. It's easy to vilify Bob's father simply for being a white man. You myth spreading people really need to stop with the bs.
