As an American, born & bred in the dirty South (North Carolina). Half of this shit is not technically Americanized pizza. It is just an idea some American had to put something different on a Pizza. Such as the White Clam & the Salmon/Caviar Pizzas. The average American would not even want to try that shi, I would say 97% of US citizens would not want to taste it period. Hell, many Americans don't like clams period, by themselves, much less on a pizza. I'd try a slice if it were free but I would not buy a fucking Clam Pizza. So on behalf of us citizens of the United States, I appologize to the entire world for our bullshit. Many of us here are tired of our own bullshit ...& now I'm getting political. Nothing but love from the U.S.!

Not really considering that the US is basically a fucking continent. It's near impossible for every American to know what every other American eats, so stop acting surprised when you come across a food which you haven't heard of.
@WildTaltos8 жыл бұрын
+Ida128 The problem is that when you call something "American," "Irish," "English," "Japanese," etc. etc., there is the general assumption that it is something you will find throughout a large portion of the national culture - particularly with food, something you might find a good number of people across the country eating or knowing about at least. I have been to America plenty of times and in many places both for vacation and something of business (just to list some of the states I have visited: New York, New Hampshire, Massachussets, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Maryland, Kentucky, Florida, Missouri, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, California) and I can say with the exception of the taco pizza, the s'mores/sweet sort of pizza, and the "deep-fried pizza" (which is really just a fried calzone), I have never seen or heard about any of the others so I am thinking they are either only popular in a certain state or region or else they are some crazy flavour that happened to be invented in America but which otherwise no one knows of or eats. Calling those ones Americans as you would something as iconic as hotdogs or hamburgers, with the suggestion that it is something that quite a few Americans know about, seems pretty misleading of them, considering that an Irish person who has never been to America might just take it at face value that it is something people actually eat a lot of there.
@WildTaltos8 жыл бұрын
+Nadia Mohamed I can see what you are saying but when I see those terms combined together - strange and "American", "Japanese," whatever the culture - the usual context is that to whoever the outside observer is - in this case, other Irish people - the food seems strange though it is actually quite popular in the culture under scrutiny. For example, if someone was to do maybe something on "strange Irish food" with Japanese people, they might give the Japanese testers some coddle, which, while its a pretty well-known dish, would seem extremely strange to a Japanese person and evidently it is strange to other Westerners as well and I could see why it might be strange to them given their typical diets. The context you are using it does make sense though it then makes the set-up sort of pointless (and still misleading) because you are taking an extremely rare food that may have happened to be conceived by an American but which otherwise no one eats or knows about and implicitly passing it off as something at all relevant to American culture which it is not.

Doesn't white pizza mean without red sauce?
@MikeL-FL8 жыл бұрын
White pizza is crust, mozzarella and dollops of ricotta. Occasionally you'll find places that ruin it with parsley or spinach. Pizza Hut does it with a white garlic Parmesan sauce.
@a_pet_rock8 жыл бұрын

I live and have traveled all over California. Been to Hawaii, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Florida, and Georgia. The only one that looks SLIGHTLY familiar is the S'mores one. But I don't know if it's the desert like ones I've got that have chocolate instead of pizza sauce, marshmallows, etc. or if someone put all of it on a regular pizza. Kind of like when someone decided to put bits of bacon into or on ice cream. I've had a sundae with chocolate sauce and bacon bits, and it wasn't actually that bad. But that pizza...
