Some members of the Mafia said they were upset about the situation but Elvis would not take their advice. Elvis told his dad to let them go temporarily give them several weeks pay and that eventually they would be rehired. Vernon gave them one weeks pay and never dId anything about being rehired. Heard this on you tube wasn't there but it may have happened No matter ot was not right of anyone to make public the private details of their jobs most especially Because Elvis was so generous to them many ways over the years.

Lisa ~ I am with you. The betrayal was cataclysmic ~ Elvis reached out to them to make amends and they chose to continue with the book - knowing how distraught he was. Elvis was so vulnerable. I believe he lost his will to live. Incomprehensibly cruel. The MM continued traveling the world in Elvis’s reflected glory. And his private phone call to them was recorded and made public. Elvis had to avoid the world or they would have invaded him. He had to trust the MM, and they failed him in the end. Yes, they feel bad after he died, but it was too little too late, They had already broke a code they swore to by spilling their guts to the world in a book knowing he had to tour. One tour and he died. Then they all really made money writing books and doing interviews. Not much redeemable about that knowing Elvis had a young daughter who would have to live with everything they spilled their guts about.
@kris-vs7ed

How many times do we have to hear that remark? The MM, took an oath with Elvis, not to talk about anything. Those unfaithful hangers on, cashed in on Elvis right before died (so he knew it), and then again, after he died, they cashed in even more. Lisa, his daughter, got no consideration from them. She had to live with them spilling their guts in books for money criticizing her father for decades. Everyone knows it was Elvis' responsibility, but he was in no condition to help himself. Back then, the only answer was more pills by doctors. It would not be the same today. So much for the oath they took to Elvis not to talk about anything, but the all cashed in on him at the end. Did they think about Lisa? NO. One might be able to forgive some of what they were doing had they thought about Elvis' daughter, but they cared nothing about her. What would Elvis think about that when he helped ALL of their families when help was needed. They gave not one thought about Lisa, and that Elvis' only daughter would have to live with everything that was said about the man she idolized for the rest of her life. These are grown men with families, who didn't care at all about the one child Elvis had, when he helped all of them and their families? The MM didn't offer to do anything for the one child Elvis left behind. Sorry, this is so upsetting. I've said too much. I'll leave.

That is true. But.... they can refrain from trashing him. The MM continued to blame Elvis for dying until they died, while trying to convince the public that he wouldn't listen to them? They were hardly shining examples. The truth is..."they broke an oath of allegiance to Elvis", and capitalized on it after he died. They had control over what they said, and they spilled their guts to make as much as they could off of him after establishing themselves as traitors.

As a guitar play who has played Graceland for several years at E Week I don't really know anymore than anyone else. Only to say Lisa Knew her dad like any girl can tell you. The truth is most likely these guys as guy will do hung around because of the perks. They cared about Elvis as a meal ticket. My wife and I began going to Graceland in 74 or so. Vegas hooked Elvis. Parker and Elvis's so call friends & buddies were only to glad to be part of his world and take care of whatever he wanted. Because they were in it up to their necks. Vegas used him like everone else. You don't play Vegas you work it. They I suspect gave him women and a pill to get him up and a pill to put him down. Ironically His band mates weren't in on the Mafia deal like the buddies were. No Elvis may have been a Victim of his fame but those around him were only to glad to participate and keep him secluded. He was in a sence a Cash Cow and feed their needs as much as he feed his own. Again she knew her dad. She knew what went on. Elvis had his problems but those around him all were only to glad to join in. Maybe some did try and Stop it near the End but they waited to late or really were just part of it. Parker defiantly was a leach. This is just an opinion and not based on anything I know about Graceland. But Elvis was a Musical Giant and went from nothing to a Superstar overnight. He never really grew up. A good Guy dealt a hand most couldn't have played. All those I have known there and from STAX are exceptional people. But like I said I wasn't around then. But Before you condem Presley or assume Lisa was just some kid understand she knows more than almost anyone. The things I have heard will die when I do. Gossip serves no good purpose. I was privillaged to meet some really nice people there. Haven't played there since 2019. Covid shut it down. Doing othef stuff now. Only guy I ever heard that had that vocal range and never never missed a beat or off key. One of our and my favorite Songs is a TCB necklace wearer J. Chestnut tune Midnight in D. Killer tune. A lotta great player from STAX are gone now too. Had Parker let Elvis Record there things might have turned out differently. Parker who lived a mile from me as a kid in Madison milked Elvis and I suspect gave a lotta orders to the guys around him. He was concerned with dollars not Elvis, I figure. Lisa knew what went on. Listen to her. She was a victim as a child. When Vegas Stopped milking Elvis Parker and the rest were only to happy to fill the void. Poor Girl.

Elvis died of Heart failure not from drugs! his mom died at 46 from the same thing
@langyd4518
@langyd4518 2 жыл бұрын
I think it’s true he died of heart failure and not drugs. But he had both issues, a drug problem and a genetic disorder that effected his heart and lungs and kidneys and immune system. we don’t know how much the drugs contributed to his death and how much the genetic disorder contributed there was more than one time that he was dying from drug overdoses and his girlfriend had to save him. once it was a little girl sitting next to him (I don’t know who she was) who kept talking to him to keep him alive and he lived through that time as well his breathing was extremely slowed and the girl talked to him to help him come out of it. he took so many tranquilizers that his breathing would stop this has been well documented and loved ones knew to watch him and keep him alert dr Nick was devoted to this it’s terrible that no one forced him into rehab, I believe the magnitude of his success kept them from confronting him. So yes, he would have died early anyway because of the genetic issue but his drug use was also simultaneously keeping him going and able to perform and killing him at the same time. The argument can be made that the entourage and girlfriends and doctors kept him alive longer than he other wise would have lived and this part is due to his own drug use. The genetic problems also made him increase his drug use at the end to try feel better. It was all a combination of issues and things working together to detrimentally affect him. his genetic condition was deadly and unknown by the medical field at that time and he was having to live with this and tour with it while his body was basically falling apart under him

You can't blame them for what happened. I understand why Lisa wants someone or thing to blame, but I think she knows the truth. There were many bloodsuckers that attached themselves to Elvis, but the inner core was not in that category. Red and Sonny West, Lamar Fike, and Billy Smith were there from the beginning. Their lives worked around his life. He was the priority, but you can't save someone from themselves. If you want to blame someone, blame Tom Parker. He's the one who stifled Elvis from growing as an artist. A true carny conman and a thief.

The only one who could've said "NO" to Elvis' addiction to drugs and his lifestyle was Elvis himself. No ONE dared to say no to his lifestyle, however his father-Vernon Presley-probably saw what was happening to his son and probably tried to help him but to no avail. Southerners always respected their elders. It's ingrained in their culture. Would Elvis listen to his daddy? Apparently not. So he only saw 42 short years of life on this Earth. Rick Bailey While I think Vernon loved Elvis, he (as well as the Memphis Mafia) were financially dependent on Elvis. Elvis knew this, and could always threaten to cut off his support. In this respect, Elvis was more of a "father" to his own father, then his father was to him. Vernon never amounted to much (as far as having a solid work history, which would have kept himself, Gladys and Elvis out of the Public Housing Projects in Memphis). He was shiftless. The other "father-figure" in Elvis's life, his Manager, Parker, had his own troubles (gambling), when he should have been willing to talk/threaten Elvis to have him clean up his life, or his income (live performances) will stop being scheduled.

Colonel Tom Parker seemed to be a Major influence/control in the life of Elvis Presley, and in part, how he (Elvis) lived and died, Elvis let Parker control way too much of his career and schedule, by not paying attention, Parker contributed by working Elvis to death. If only Elvis's mother could have lived to see what it was happening she may have (MAYBE) been the one to wake Elvis up as to what was going on, and seeing his condition. I'm a huge Elvis fan and have followed his life and career since 1955, and I believe Elvis could have done much more in his life had he lived longer. "A late member of the MM, Billy Smith"? That is incorrect. Billy Smith is Elvis's first cousin and was with Elvis from the beginning of his career to the end of his life. I find what Lisa said to be quite curious. She well-knows the intricacies of addiction and she knows that the addict is the *only* one who can decide to stop abusing drugs. When she was in the throes of addiction, many of those closest to her begged her to stop using and it all fell on deaf ears. When she finally decided to stop using, she cleaned up her act and by doing so she saved her own life. I'm a huge EP fan, however, my view is that *only* Elvis could have saved Elvis. Elvis found false security in the fact that his drugs of choice were prescribed by physicians, and were not street drugs. Though during his final few years, he did use cocaine. I do believe that the book, "Elvis, What Happened?" (which I own and have read) did cause him further shame, embarrassment, and humiliation, and contributed to his deep depression. At that time he was seriously if not terminally ill. Several members of the MM did appeal to Elvis to stop taking the pills. Billy Smith said that he didn't hold back during the last year of Elvis's life, and told him to stop, to which Elvis replied, "I need them". The MM never knew how physically ill Elvis was because he never told them the full story. Sadly, Elvis killed Elvis, not the MM. They could not have saved him in the end. The responsibility rested squarely on Elvis's shoulders alone. He was a brilliantly talented, sensitive, giving human being whose physical and mental health had deteriorated. He did, however, legitimately need some of the drugs just to live. The opiates, barbiturates, and stimulants were necessary as prescribed, and were indeed abused. It was not easy for him to be "Elvis Presley". He was being overworked and his health issues became progressively worse. The man was human, not a god. Billy Smith did try to help. It was a tragic, sad situation. If only EPE would tell the truth about Elvis and stop perpetuating this false image of perfection. EP was beautiful inside and out and he gave his all to his music and to his fans. He was also a sensitive human being who lost his way. There is no shame in that. What happened during the latter part of his life should not be used to define him nor should it "tarnish" his legacy. Elvis's humanity was the very reason he was/is so beloved. Instead of blaming others for EP's death, I wish EPE/Lisa/Priscilla would use his death and the events that led up to it, as an opportunity to educate and to inspire. Rest in peace, Elvis A/Aron Presley🎸🥰🙏🏻

They already tried everything they could and didn't know how else to help. They did feel guilty from how everything turned out. With addiction, speaking from personal experience, you can only do so much to help, especially based on the situation, relationship, and circumstances, ultimately its the addicts decision. To be fair, Priscilla & Lisa have told a lot about Elvis as well. I'm not saying I agree with what some of them did but a lot of the Memphis Mafia group was Elvis' family. They were with him & answered his every call. Elvis' best friend & cousin is on KZbin today (Memphis Mafia kid) & he tells fun stories & answers questions about him. You can tell he misses his family. I believe he is related through Elvis' mom..i don't believe they were the ones writing books though either. I do know they haven't seen Lisa since the funeral & she doesn't contact them. Elvis had power and ways of getting any medication he wanted -the men did their best to help him. I don't think it's fair to blame them. You could blame Priscilla in that case. She remained close to him even after the divorce. Linda Thompson was his last fiance and she couldn't do anything. He overdid everything, except his music, which was as close to perfect as it gets. He needed people around him to mop up & clean up after him so to speak. Let's put it this way, if the book didn't contribute to his death, which I firmly believe it did, it sure didn't help anything. After is was clear no one believed their lies, that they did it to "help" they finally fessed up to the actual truth. They were hurt and did it for revenge. Red, Sonny, and Dave were slithering traitors and any loyalties they may have had went right out the door. They were there for the perks and when they were fired for good reason, they retaliated. @@FactsVerse Your facts are fiction. Not one medical professional, hospital phyician, personal doctor, medical record ever said he was dependent on medications. Rather , they said he required them to treat nine medical conditions in eleven body systems. From youth, he had colon issues and sleep issues. His Dr Black said during childhood, he had a virus which killed nerves in his colon. He even sleep walked. His lack of sleeping ability was exacerbated during concerts where buckets of adrenalin flowed through him during performances. It took hours to sleep without medical aid. Sleep issues is a huge problem. Millions have it. Without sleep, we die. Only the medical examiner can rule cause of death. He ruled heart attack. He looked at toxicology reports too. Every med in his system was at therapeutic level or sub therapeutic level. The autopsy showed he had 2 previous heart attacks. His long standing colon issue led to his death. It increased in severity until it caused valsavar maneuver leding to heart attack. It is important to put out the correct information. A recently deeply and factually researched book came out. The research was done on his medical records, diagnostic tests, personal physicians and his hospital physicians, etc...all personal medical informtion. His family medical history was also researced. Rather than relying on unproven myths, facts should be put forth. You can watch Sally Hoedel in an interview on channel Globetrotting with Trey or read Destined to Die Young, a fact based account of his medical history, toxixology and autopsy results. You can read Elvis Up Close, chpt 15, which, his doctors discuss fhe cause of death from valsavar maneuver and the prescrptioni meds he took for each medical issue. Importantt..Red and Sony West wrote a book ,ghost written by a Natinal Enquirer employee. Red and Sony were told to lie to sell more books. You can research the video where they say they wrote the book out of need for money and revebge. I spoke to his private nurse. She said he was deeply hurt enotionally by their disloyalty. Also, Elvis career did not wane. He sold out every concert to the end. Guiness reports his concerts as having the most attendance. Sony, his recording label, says he has sold 6 billion records worldwide. Nobody else is close. You have one thing right. He had to keep up about 80 employees and family. He spent money like water. His cash was low. Elvis' health issues caused cyclical bloating. He knew his health was very bad. He told several he would die at age 42. His fav foods were cornbread, black keyed peas and meatloaf. All southerners eat what he did. He had three cooks. Yhey were not there just to cook hamburgers. If food killed him, why did his Mafia members outlive him. They ate his food cooked by his cooks. With all due respect to Lisa Marie, I would like to defend the Memphis Mafia. Obviously she knows more because she lived with Elvis but assuming there is a word of truth to their stories, I believe they tried to help him. Elvis had an addiction to prescribed medication and would go to elaborate lengths to obtain it. I’ve read Red West, Sonny West and Dave Hebler’s book (Elvis, What Happened) and I’ve watched every interview I can find from the guys who were inside Elvis’s inner circle and their story is always the same. Elvis was human and ultimately responsible for his own death. I think no less of him for anything I’ve ever read about, in fact I can respect him more because he did have faults just like all of us. His generosity has been well documented by the Memphis Mafia and you can hear in their interviews 20 years after his death, the emotion of losing him. There are two sides to every story.

I wish we could legally declare his birthday a national holiday, that too he deserves because he is a national treasure and national icon for the ages. No one like him or ever will have a chance to touch his talent, longevity and stardom. Elvis is a one time deal.

No one is mentioning the book, "Destined to Die Young". which explores Elvis's health problems. There are so many, some present before his fame and drug use. Yes he became dependent on prescription meds. But in the beginning he was taking them to try and help him deal with the health problems, so he could go one being "Elvis Presley". All of this is is not to say he did not have a problem with the meds. But they were not the direct cause of his death. There were genetic illnesses that contributed. He died from a heart attack, not an overdose as many believe. I hope some of you will read this book by Sally Hoedel. She has researched the book very well. Not saying it is perfect, but shows a different perspective to think about. I recommend it highly.

For years and more years , I blamed all those around him for not looking after him better. I blamed his doctor and still do to this day for all the drugs he prescribed and that will never change. It was his place to make sure Elvis got the best medical attention and he failed just so he could pad his pockets !!! The guys he called his friends were wolves in sheeps clothing !! They were fueling the fire to fill their own lustful desires and wants for fame !! So they are guilty as charged just like old doctor!! They can all burn in hell from my view of things!! I'm also angry at Priscilla because she should have had his best interests at heart. I personally think she failed him too. Lisa is really all he had and he dearly loved her. I wished his dear mother could have lived longer so she could give him more stability in his life. I don't think he would ever have gotten hooked on drugs or had all those wild parties and people at his home if she had lived. Gladys would have been his rock and compass and we would still have him with us and Lisa would be much happier. We all would.

I’m not defending Dr Nick but if he couldn’t get what he wanted from him he would simply go to another doctor - even if he had to fly half way across the country to do it. Elvis had unlimited resources for all practical purposes and he was going to do what he wanted to do. Period. I’m a life long Elvis fan and I always will be but he ultimately sealed his own fate. If anyone is to blame, I’d point a finger at Colonel Tom Parker. He took Elvis to the top but he also ran him to death in the 70’s.

@@caroleugis5155 I appreciate your comment because so many of the Elvis fans want to avoid talking about certain topics. With that being said, I think Priscilla and Vernon both could have done more. For both the '68 Comeback Special and the Aloha special, he got off the meds for those performances. When I look at the history of EP, it appears that there were two "interventions" of sorts. The first being when EP was pressured into marrying Priscilla and the second being the 1967 bathroom incident when Vernon, Priscilla and Parker did a "power play" (intervention) to change the structure of the MM and to try and keep EP under control, so that the money could continue to roll-in, in my opinion. When "they" wanted something, it seems like a solution could be found. Legally, Priscilla (until she divorced EP; she could have ALWAYS approached Parker to do something) and Vernon had the ability to "persuade" EP to seek treatment. If they, including Parker, had put EP first and "intervened" possibly he could have been helped. The problem is that it simply appears that the effort was never made. Overall, if asked, is EP responsible? I would answer "yes," but sometimes you need someone to "stand in the gap" or "intervene. I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Being that they were seeking help for EP, they would have had access to cutting edge assistance and to those who were willing to go above and beyond. Overall, my point is that there is an appearance that this "hurculean" effort was never made. They may have tried to intercept the drugs, dilute the drugs, and said please don't do that, but that's not what I'm talking about. I don't think Lisa Marie or anyone can blame the Memphis Mafia for Elvis's death. You can't protect a man from himself. Elvis was a grown man and knew what he was doing was very bad for his health and overall life. The Memphis Mafia were close friends of his, and they wouldn't want to see him end up dead or contribute to his death in any way. Elvis had a very real addiction problem, and when people tried to help him, he would push them back and say no. He told some of his friends that he needed the drugs to get by. Elvis was living in denial of having an addiction, and he was refusing any help, which I'm sure was offered to him by the Memphis Mafia. Now, I do agree that writing a book about his drug issue was wrong, and something that three of Elvis's friends shouldn't have done. However, the truth was going to get out somehow, and it was a truth that couldn't be put down or denied. The truth wasn't about to go away. Elvis was too addicted to the different prescription medicines he was taking, and couldn't give them up, because he didn't want to give them up. I don't think Elvis thought he had an addiction, to be honest, but he was deeply addicted to these various pills and had a host of health problems too. Elvis endangered his own life every day, by refusing to fight his addiction, and to get real help. The Memphis Mafia didn't kill him. Elvis killed himself. I'm not saying this to be mean, because I think Elvis is awesome, but he did have a real drug addiction that needed to be addressed. It never was addressed by Elvis personally. No one can force a man to get help for himself. He's either willing or isn't willing. Elvis chose not to get help. It's way he died so young and so tragically.

Dave Hebler was sacked and co-author of Elvis' tell-all book. Esposito, Hodge, Geller, Thompson, two Stanley-brothers, Dick Grob and Billy Smith were still there when Elvis died. The problem is that all Elvis' friends were financially dependent on him. That is not a good base for friendship. The blood-relatives around Elvis were also financially dependent on Elvis and couldn't easily correct him but at least they didn't smear him after his death. Doctor Nick borrowed a huge amount of money from Elvis for building his house. That made him financially dependent on Elvis. Very bad for a good doctor-patient relationship. Dr. Nick had no idea of the severity of Elvis' obstipation although Elvis had 38 pounds of calcified stool in his colon when he died! Elvis must have been in great pain! Dr. Nick could and should have controlled his bowel movements and content. In the seventies you could have an echography of your unborn child but also from your bowels. Dr. Nick could have made a monthly echography to control Elvis' colon/bowels and free him from calcified stool. It is remarkable that Elvis' regular employees, cooks housekeepers, musicians and nurse didn't write or say demeaning things about Elvis Presley after his death. On the contrary! Elvis Presley's co-stars in the movies he made are all positive about Elvis Presley but the filmcrews disliked Elvis' MM-"friends", hanging around on the set doing nothing productive. The biggest public attacks on Elvis come or came from the Stanley-family Priscilla Wagner-Beaulieu ad his so-called MM-friends. The very persons who profited the most from Elvis' generosity, kindness, fame and money smeared, demeaned and exploited him the most. They all make Elvis Presley the scapegoat of their own vices. Scheming manipulator Priscilla depicts herself as Elvis' victim; golddigger Dee, who married Vernon because he is Elvis' father, accused Gladys of having an incestuous relationship with her son; the MM-friends accuse Elvis of drug use and sexual promiscuity while at the same time exploiting Elvis to get access to beautiful young women, alcohol and drugs. The common denominator of all those persons is that they all have been taking and taking from Elvis or even have exploited him without giving anything back. Their relationship with Elvis was very unbalanced and one-sided. That makes them feel inferior to Elvis. To compensate that negative feeling of inferiority they attack Elvis Presley. That serves to more or less restore the balance between Elvis and themselves. A Chinese proverb says that you don't have to be angry at somebody if he did NOT lend you money. Constantly having to be grateful can lead to anger and jealousy. Feelings of guilt or shame about your own behaviour can lead to attributing that behaviour to others. Lisa Marie is right if she is angry with her mother, the MM-maffia and the abominable Stanley-family. They treated Elvis Presley badly; before and after his death. I also think that, after the publication of the tell-all book, Elvis was very nervous about the reaction of his public. Therefore he couldn't sleep and took extra pills which might have killed him. Elvis Presley was a sensitive man who was easily stressed; the financial problems caused by Priscilla's never-ending claims, missing Lisa Marie, his congenital health problems, Parker's greed and lies about world-tours and the betrayal of the West-cousins plus Hebler. It all must have caused a lot of stress, too much cortisol, weight-gain and further deteriorating health. Indirectly the West-cousins and Hebler could be responsible for Elvis' death! Red West even said that Elvis, after having paid 20 years for Red's livelihood, housing, transport, medical bills and schoolfees didn't have the right to suddenly stop doing so because, being in his fourties, Red couldn't easily find a job. Red was dismissed in 1976 because he, Sonny and Dave had been violent towards fans, which led to indemnification claims. In 1975 Red played in a movie but was nevertheless still paid by Elvis Presley. Red West apparently felt entitled to Elvis Presley's lifelong free income because Elvis also had paid him from 1956-1976. Very strange attitude! According to Red West Elvis' generosity during 20 years had generated an obligation towards Red to continue that generosity indefinitely. Crazy!

The pain of losing his mother, divorce, best friends turning their backs on him, touring for over 20 years, aging, etc. can cause anyone to fall into a dark world. He had the best world, but inside his heart surely hurt with all the loss over the years. Men don't handle being alone and grief as well as women do. My heart hurts that no one could help him, but one must want to help himself. He was a grown man. No one can blame anyone but Elvis. If he had lived longer, maybe he would have slowed down, but in our 40's we are still trying to impress and think we need friends.

Years back I heard Elvis and his Father were going to do something that was to retaliate toward the what was called the Memphis Mafia but he never got the chance go through with it. The weard part was that the other video had said someone called the news paper and said to be ready for some big news the next day or so and the call was from the Elvis mansion. Makes us wonder if someone put something stronger in his medicine.but all we have to go on is what we hear in the news or from something else. As my opinion is that it was also weard that he had came up with the song.I DID IT MY WAY right before he passed away. Also there was supposed to be more information released on the evidence after ten years but I never heard of any. I'm just glad to have had Elvis's music in my younger years with his movie's also.He made the world a better place at the time. And his legacy will always live and be loved by those who adored him! ♥️💯🎶🎶🎶

I can see why Lisa Marie would be incredibly disappointed that the MM didn’t keep Elvis’ private life confidential. But to believe that the MM added to his demise and downward spiral just isn’t true. There is too much documentation, of personal testimonies, including Linda Thompson’s that Elvis was going to have his LEGAL drugs and NO ONE had better get in his way. The fact of the matter is most of the MM were just “simple” folk who LOVED their Friend/Relative and were willing to do “anything” to BE with him. What one wants to make out of this relationship is their own personal decision but as far as the drugs were concerned, THAT was ALL ON ELVIS. Unfortunately, everyone, including Elvis, ends up being the loser because he was definitely gone too soon.

Elvis had a multitude of illnesses.. diabetes, glucoma, enlarged heart, malfunctioning and enlarged liver, hi blood pressure arthritis and probably worst of all malfunctioning colon Take all that on plus his rigorous schedule and facing those Hugh audiences is not easy for a shy person..I have read many times that he never got over stage freight. The medications were to help lessen the pain . Not saying it was okay but he needed some relief if his performing was to continue. He paid the ultimate price being the super star he was

I can understand Lisa's anger...but...its misplaced. She was a child and really didnt know a lot about what went on. Red West tried to stop a drug dealer making a delivery to Elvis. He broke the Dealers foot and swore he would kill him if he didnt leave. Elvis was incredibly angry at Red for this. Vernon fired Red and Sonny with no notice and no severence pay. The MM, as a whole...were his best friends and saved Elvis countless times...primarily from himself. Elvis didnt handle the money and his father would pay servant wages to his staff. The MM didnt make a bunch of money off Elvis. Sorry Lisa. Elvis was an addict. He had a misplaced trust in Dr. Nick and used his celeb status to doctor shop. Vernon, his father, was an idiot who knew nothing about managing Elvis' money and VERNON was why The Estate was in such poor shape at the time of Elvis death. Priscilla saved that estate and fired Col. Tom. (There is your Snake)

100% true lol Elvis’ Dad had no business being Elvis’ accountant. EP was too damn high most of the time to even thinking straight. He was a restless soul who was prone to self destruct when he’s bored. And I think Elvis got bored very easily. The king of entertainment liked to be entertained when he was not entertaining others. It seems as if performing, getting high, sex & women, and poor diets, were always part of EP’s routine. The dude didn’t want to be around anyone else except his entourage. He just wasn’t comfortable being around others. EP was 100% gentleman with everyone he met. It’s a shame he didn’t not find comfort in somewhat of a normal life.

Oh sure the MM got poorly paid, what a crock. I bet Elvis said they could have anything they wanted anytime, they just needed to ask. And that was in addition to their salary. They went on all expenses paid vacations as well, they were his guests, they weren't even treated like employees! And more importantly they were his entourage which was huge. They were living his life, and living and eating better than he was. Priscilla said she cut off the custom ordered food like everyone ordering steak when they ate simple food like fried chicken. She finally set a menu at Graceland and said if they didn't like it they could go to a restaurant, no more custom ordering anytime of the day or night.

Elvis made and laid his own foundation from his beginning. Codependent on those around him from mother to death shows layer upon layer of low self-esteem resulting in his life's poor personal and career choices leading to his demise. Living the IMAGE of King lays it all out, ruler of his kingdom good, bad, and ugly. To pinpoint his life on one particular aspect is naivety and on an emotional level. Elvis as for all of us is only guilty for living life which has no set rules on how to do so. Elvis did the best he could do and to me that's a very human trait that we all share, without blame or shame. Listen to his New York interview with his dad in 1972. He exposes the man and the struggles with his image. Thousands of emotional fans pass judgement on the late idol every day. What's yours? That's all that matters.
