I don't think I ever missed an episode nor did I ever miss a film of theirs either; "Abbot and Costello Meet the Wolfman", "Abbot and Costello Meet...(whomever)". Their adventures and misadventures contained nothing but good, clean fun and entertainment. Those of us who are lifetime fans know that Hollywood will never, ever be able to reproduce anything comparable to Bud and Lou. Thanks for all the laughs guys!

On the 100th anniversary year of his birth, I got to hear his youngest daughter speak about her dad; she was doing an anniversary tour; she had stories and memorabilia, and of course various items to buy; also got to visit his hometown and see the statue they have of him. I read he was quite athletic and a good boxer in his youth, and he and Abbott sold more US Bonds for the war than anyone, selling a few million dollars worth over a very short period of time. I think I read those bonds would been about a billion dollars or so today. Thanks for the video!

What breaks my heart even more is that I had no clue that Lou had died in 1959, the same goes for George Reeves who died in the same year. I was born in 1956 and started watching both Abbot and Costello and The Adventures of Superman in the early sixties on our old 21 inch black and white Westinghouse. So my point is that what I was watching on TV, were only old reruns of these shows. I actually read Chris Costello's book 'Lou's on First: The Tragic Life of Hollywood's Greatest Clown Warmly Recounted by his Youngest Child'. One thing you forgot about this story was how the IRS came after this comedy duo in the 1950's and the IRS drained their lifesavings from both of Bud and Lou. The duo even lost a lot of their money through card games with strangers. In the book, Chris recounted how But and Lou saw each other as neighbors, not as friends. It was purely a business relationship. Secondly, in the book, she also recounted how Lou could not lie to movie fans. They asked where he lived, he told them, his phone number, he gave it to them, these 'poseurs' came to their house, he had to entertain them. Only when Lou died, did Chris have the guts to kick these poseurs out of their home. You should read that book, to correct the clear inaccuracies in your video.

I like both Abbott and Costello, and I think, like millions of others, they were hysterical. But deep down, I always knew something terrible had happened behind the scenes in Lou’s life when I first saw “Who’s on First”. Losing a child, especially one so young, is always heartbreaking. In the end, they’re back together once again; making countless others laugh in the great comedy stage in the sky. May they both rest in peace. 🥹

I loved watching Abbot & Costello movies. My faves are Time of Their Lives and Hold That Ghost (which I cannot find anywhere to watch). I wish KZbin would post it.

Abbott and Costello were a part of my happy childhood memories. When the reruns came on TV all us kids would sit in front of the tv and laugh and laugh and laugh!

Is it true that he had performed the same night that his son passed away? If so, being a life-long musician myself, that is the greatest display of strength and fortitude that I could ever imagine!.

I knew a lot of it. But I am so pleased that Budd an Lou remained friends. I was surprised they were not paid 50/50

It’s nice to learn that the two men were really on good terms. How the myth of animosity between them both is a mystery to most of their fans.

Didn't know Lou was only 52. Sad. Loved both of them and still watch their movies.

How sad that Lou's son died. There is an ad that states "never look away" in reference to pools, waterways, you can't take your eyes off in general and it makes sense, "it only takes a second". That said, loved Abbott and Costello, would always be Sunday afternoon fun zone.

He was born in Paterson NJ just like me! He even gave the kids in the city a pool... great guy. If you listen carefully he mentions Paterson a few times in his shows.

Guy, thank you for posting this excellent video. I am a big fan of Luke Costello. He was react. He deserved more than 50%. I am disappointed he didn’t even get 50%. Unless, but Abbott was good at business skills which built up their value which could’ve been the case. At any rate, it should’ve been 50-50 if that were the case. I hope that Pat and Chris are still with us. I expect that Chris is. Pat would be 87. When watching Chris walk out in the this is your life Lou Costello episode, I was sad, and knowing that she would be about the age I was when my father Lou died of the same affliction. The only minor quibble that I have about what she said is that she gets to hear her father‘s voice every day if she wishes. I can watch Video of my father at family weddings. I would love to be able to hear his voice which I have not heard hear since the day he died. That does not diminish my bonding towards her over our shared loss at all. I am grateful she can hear his voice. Norman

They both met sad endings 😢 what they failed to address was how the IRS took everything. This from a pair of great guys who on their own at their own expense went overseas to perform USO shows for the troops

Weirdly, my favorite film of Abbot and Costello, Time of their Lives, was made during a disagreement about money. I appreciate it because it gave Bud Abbott a rare chance to indulge in pratfalls. I think I remember hearing that Abbot like the movie for that reason as well.

Realizing many of the younger generations have no idea who Abbott & Costello are. Their body of work was entertainment for everyone. It contains no vulgarity or rudeness. A far cry from what we have today.

4:00 Lou Costello Jr (Little Butch) was born on November 06, 1942. He accidentally drowned in the family pool on November 04, 1943, just 2 days shy of his 1st birthday.

"Who's On First?". Skit was parodied by Johnny Carson and Rocky and Bullwinkle. True test of a classic.

Moe needs to chill. They ALL "borrowed" material that was hundreds of years old and revamped with their own personal flair.

I never felt that he was doing an imitation/ripoff of Curly at all.
