I'm way over 50 and that one line in that movie has me in tears whenever I hear it:)) How funny is this movie. Me, my family after Wonderama, every Sunday at 11:30 watching Abbott and Costello get in and out of all kinds of trouble. God bless those of us with these great, wonderful memories. At 83, I have vivid memories of the "monster movies" of my youth. To me they are a harbinger of the kind of joy and adventure of an innocent childhood lived with little or no fear. When Abbot and Costello finally met the monsters, I was out of my childhood, but I distinctly remember the same kind of joy and adventure with the addition of the kind of humor that was the keystone of Abbot and Costello and their movies. Ah, childhood and everything that made it so memorable. Thank you Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolf Man and Abbott and Costello for a memorable childhood.

My mother was very strict about me not watching "monster movies", she thought they would give me nightmares. Oh brother. My Dad didn't care but he didn't want hassles with my mother so I was screwed. But one night in '63 when I was 6 years old ABC Saturday Night at The Movies was showing Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein. I knew I couldn't watch it but my Dad really wanted to see it so I begged and begged and to my utter astonishment he looked up at my mother from his big TV watching chair and said "This one's OK....it's just a comedy". She gave him a look like "you've got nothin' coming later" and marched out of the room. I was SO excited I couldn't believe it.......I was actually gonna get to watch a real monster movie.......with Frankenstein! Little did I know that it also had Dracula AND the Wolfman. It was nothing of a comedy to me. I completely blocked out all the humor and only concentrated on the "good parts" to make it as much of a horror movie as possible. I never enjoyed a movie more in my life. I was absolutely thrilled. I'm 62 now and I remember that night like it was last month.

When I was a kid, WPIX out of NYC used to air Abbott and Costello movies every Sunday at 11:30am....I watched them every week for years, until they stopped doing it....saw the movies over and over and still love them to this day when I occasionally see clips....

I got this movie on VHS when I was in late elementary school and couldn’t stop laughing. And even today, I still can’t watch this movie without bursting out laughing. The wax museum part with the crates was my absolute favorite.

I was about 6 years or so old and my older Brother (16) took me to the neighborhood movie house to see A & C meet Frankenstein. About 1948/9. I never forgot it. Of course he could not stay to see it because I was hiding on the movie floor behind the seat in front of me crying from fright. My brother is long passed away but I have that memory of us so long and young ago.

Such an excellent film and of course, a classic! Will always remember seeing this as a child in the 80s and being completely mesmerised. Abbott and Costello were comedy greats and to get them together with the Universal monsters was a stroke of genius. I will always have a place for this film in my heart. Abbott and Costello play it for laughs, but the monsters play it absolutely straight and serious throughout, that is the secret of successfully mixing two genres I think, if the monsters played it for laughs it wouldn't be scary , so when we watch this movie we are hysterical with both laughter and fear which is quite a heady mixture!!!

I had the Frankenstein Legacy collection on DVD from the early 2000s. This movie unfortunately was not included. Then when I upgraded to a new Legacy Blu-ray, it was thankfully there. The movie still holds up after all these years. It’s the subtle humorous one liners that are the golden nuggets in this film.

I recall seeing this fantastic movie when I was a kid... amazingly, the kids that loved making noises and annoying the rest of the audience were quiet, except for when they laughed, which was throughout the movie. Yes, Abbott & Costello's greatest movie, and most hilarious, too. Dracula with Bela Lugosi, the Frankenstein monster, Lon Chaney Jr as the Wolf Man... what a treat for all kids to watch. Growing up watching Bud Abbott and Lou Costello and all the creature/monster movies, too, was what kids in my age group did most. I recall the scene where Dracula sucks the blood of the woman, and there's a mirror in back of them and we see Dracula's image... and I yelled, "Hey, Dracula ain't supposed to cast an image on mirrors...!" and everyone started talking about that scene at the end of the movie. Still, the movie was great!

When I was a kid back in the 60's we had a show called Passport to adventure where the host, Elwy Yost would show a half hour of a movie from Monday to Thursday, My Dad would try to make it home to watch with me. I cannot tell how this film thrilled and hooked me forever of the Universal Monsters.

Some trivia about Abbott and Costello Meets Frankenstein, In the scene where they are going through a revolving door, Costello calls out 'Abbott' instead of 'Chick'. Also during the ending scene when Sandra is being thrown out the window, a camera falls on the foot of Glenn Strange and he broke his foot, so Lon Chaney Jr. became the monster during that scene as well as the ending when the monster is throwing barrels at the boat it is Lon Chaney Jr. as the monster.

I actually met Chris Costello twice at the Lafayette Theater in Suffern New York. The first movie was Hold that Ghost and the second movie was Abbott and Costello meet Captain Kidd. She has to be the nicest Ladies I met. When someone meets her she will treat you like a long lost family member.

That's Very interesting. I lived in Suffern for a year in 2010 and was an Extra in a movie filmed inside the Lafayette Theater called "White Irish Drinkers" that was supposed to reflect 1975 Brooklyn, N.Y. and the Lafayette was used because it was the Last theater in New York that hadn't been renovated and was still as it was the day it opened in 1923 which the movies Director John Gray and his wife needed for a riot when the Rolling Stones failed to show. It was great fun for me and I still haven't seen the movie yet to see if I'm actually seen in it. Chris Costello probably lives in Suffern too because I thought she looked a bit familiar to me though I never knew who she is, what a shame.

I have to agree with you, Chris is a charming and wonderful lady. she even helped my partner and she even helped my partner and I, when we she even helped my partner and I, when we played Abbott Costello in a commercial for ABC she even helped my partner and I, when we played Abbott Costello in a commercial for ABC. ABC hadn't checked into getting the rights to button lose characters for the commercial and Chris helped me get in touch with the right people in order to make sure that the commercial got made. I actually watched the movie I was an extra in and I'm there in 3 shots plain as day inside the theater and walking up the isle with other extras in the longest shot of about 3 seconds and Damn did I look Good and took a few stills of myself in that long brown leather trench coat and high collar lime green shirt that was total '70's' looking. I was looking much better 13 years ago though.

I remember seeing this when I was about six or seven years old with my father. On Sunday afternoons there was a tv show that showed classic movies. I can't remember the name of the show but it was 1981 or 1982. Many years later I bought the movie on dvd and going to show it to my son when he is about six.

If you are from Chicago, the name of the show was "Family Classics". it would start in October and through to about Christmas. Frazier Thomas was the host. All-time favorite program on WGN Channel 9.
