I randomly remembered this game and found your video. I remember playing this back in the day and enjoying watching the death scenes alot more than the actual gameplay. I still own it, but I don't have the patience for it anymore. Great video 👍

In all seriousness, I owe credit to Dungeon Chill- In one of his videos he lays out the brass tax that is there’s more content we all like, it doesn’t matter if we take inspiration from him. Made sense! It’s fun and satisfying creating nonsense again. Thanks!

@@Trevelyan2 Of course! To really get down to brass tacks, how would we have stuff like video game of music "genres" (or "tags") if not for people taking inspiration from -- and remixing -- what they like?

Huge fan of flashback. I got it on the mega drive for either my birthday or maybe christmas one year (used copy, shit was expensive), still have it. Even dug it out of my parents attic and brought it with me when I moved across the world to new zealand. Took me years to finish it without guides. Fade to Black was one of first PC games I bought, some time around 97-98? It was in that crappy big box EA Classics packaging that ruined the original box art - even then EA was fucking things up. I think I'd originally got Wing Commander 4 but couldn't get my mouse to work in DOS, so my dad had to bring me back to the shop to exchange it (this happened a lot, he was pissed). Swapped it for Fade to Black, not even sure I realised it was a sequel at the time. Really liked the atmosphere in the game, and I remember being wowed by the cutscenes (yes, even the death ones) and full voice acting. I got stuck for years on that bit with the floaty mask guy, I think I ended up finishing it with a guide. Fuck that old dude though - 6/10

Ouch, for a moment I was worried you'd praise the game. This is one of my worse memory on the PlayStation. Such a disappointment for a sequel to Flashback. Speaking of baffling design... how the heck does one navigate inside Retro CDN? I'd be curious to browse old magazines, but the search box is of no use if I don't know their names.

I played Fade to black on DOS and was very impressed, but Tomb Raider 1 blew this game out of the water, i mean, Tomb Raider was far more dynamic, the controls were far better, the graphics too, and had way more style., the transition was alone in the dark, fade to black and then tomb raider, of course there were the sega arcade games but at home i remember those were the most important 3D polygon games in the mid 90s
