FAIL! 2010 Toyota Rav4 Trailer Hitch Install

I ran into the same problem, I got lucky with a M12x1.25 metric plug tap on an older Rav4. Lots of PB blaster or WD40 while tapping. If you do go up a size, the 1/2" NC 13 tap and bolts may work. PS, Exhaust side needs open ended wrench when tapping as there's not much room there, Good luck!

Thank you for that information! I was looking at the M12X1.25 plug tap but am concerned that threads would still just be rust and would be weak. Then again, I won't be using the hitch to pull heavy stuff, more just storage / bike rack so might not be a problem. I'll definitely try that first!!
