@@Thomas93712 Thanks for the advice! As for standing still she was always like this in the other barn too. Just doesn't stand still. It's not because of the robot. We will give what you say a try. It's funny because if she gets kicked out and we bring her around again it will often go right on the first try.

We put a piece of black plastic on the panel next to the control panel about 18” wide and long enough to reach the floor. This keeps the cows from backing up and looking under the machine. When the cows keep stepping forward and backward to look under machine, it’s much harder for the machine to latch on.

@@bonniehibma3580 Thank you! It is getting better and maybe we are too stubborn about weeding out the few cows that aren't going to work. If they go to the robot on their own it goes much better because they go more often. It's a fine line deciding when to let them figure it out and when to bring them to the robot.

Did someone try to run it manually?
@HollcanaFarmКүн бұрын
@steveketchum983 If you do a reconnect then you start from scratch and lose the memory. I have shut off one or two teats and then turned them on once the milk starts to flow. It is funny that it can fail and you put her through again and it gets it right away sometimes. I wonder if the udder is more ready then and easier to read? You can't actually do it completely manually. You can set the arm at the starting point and then press connect and it does the rest.

I can't understand why she has so many problems connecting that cow
@HollcanaFarmКүн бұрын
@@pieterannekevisser8141 I'm not sure either. She has a nice udder. She does move around quite a bit. There are far worse udders that it has no problem with. Next time our Lely tech comes I'm going to put this cow through and see what she thinks. Crossed teats on another cow is no problem at all. It seems like reverse tilt and or udders with the front teats right in front of the rear teats is the hardest.

Would you explain that bedding pack long term do you ever clean it out also couldn’t the cows go outside while you spreading more bedding
@HollcanaFarm2 күн бұрын
@@garymork1380 It can be cleaned out once a year or maybe longer. It gradually breaks down because of the heat it makes from being cultivated and because we use wood shavings. If managed properly it is healthy and comfortable for the cows. No, the cows cannot go outside while we spread the bedding. In the winter it is definitely not an option. Maybe we will set that up for next year. It has gotten better since this video. He lowered the speed of the spreader. I will try to show the difference. Also it might help to have the curtain down on the one side to blow the dust away from them.

As an engineer, I have worked with waste and recycling for 30 years. We had a composting plant for garden waste and a sewage plant. The working environment is highly valued and inspected by the authorities. In the composting plant, the compost piles are turned regularly. The piles are in the open air. All work with compost must be carried out with respiratory protection. Tractors and trucks must be equipped with airtight cabins with filters for cleaning the air. Outside the cabin, the work is with respiratory protection. Composting takes place through biological processes with the formation of fungi, which are in the air as aerosols that are harmful to humans. Similar respiratory protection at sewage plants. The video of sawdust spreading makes alarm bells ring. It looks terrible with the steam from the compost in the cold air, but believe me, there are aerosols and dust in the air that are harmful to humans and animals, so seeing that respiratory protection is not used shakes me a little. Such a video on KZbin from Denmark will quickly result in a report to the authorities and a violation of the legislation on working environment. Apparently you do not have the same control over working environment or exemption if there are no employees. Is it necessary to use such fine sawdust or could a coarser grained sawdust do the same so that it is not so airborne. There could be ventilation while working in the compost mat. The fumes from the compost will contain aerosols. If you are a member of an agricultural advisory board, you could consult them and get some knowledge about handling work with the compost.

I wonder how long it going to take for those new fan to catch on fire with all the dust buildup
@HollcanaFarm2 күн бұрын
@@lorenplock8244 No worries, there's nothing to burn. Everything that goes in the barn is special rated for the barn. We even had to have really special light switches rated for the barn even though they aren't near the cows or manure. These are barn fans where they expect dust.
