Fun fact! The guy standing with his back turned at 4:42 was a contest winner, just a regular SG fan like the rest of us who was lucky enough to win the grand prize. A cameo appearance in an episode of Atlantis. I entered the contest but unfortunately didn’t win but I was still happy for the lucky guy that got to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I love how this one ends with EVERYONE in trouble. Everett is about to get the succ, Ford and his squad are surrounded, Teyla's squad went down and she's missing, the city's self-destruct is armed, and Sheppard is flying to his doom. When the show originally aired. people had to wait 5 months to see the ending.

Crazy to think that SG-1 season 8, SGA season 1 and Battlestar Galactica season 1 were all filming at the same time just across the street from each other. We didn't know how good we had it at the time for sci fi.

Imagine having to wait for the next season for this to be resolved. I was telling my tv 'don't you fking do this to me. Don't you dare.' followed by quite the frustrated shout. Just knowing the situation they're in, and well- we've seen the bodies all over the floor, we know it's bad and likely there's people who won't make it out. I was pretty much begging for plot armor for my favorite characters at this point. This series does tension so well that I can still feel it even though I've seen the episodes before, know it won't end after the first season, and know how many seasons are still left. Imho it's a gift to be able to mix tension, action, and humor so well together in one series. There's other shows that manage it, of course, but... idk, Atlantis is special to me somehow.

It was even worse for me the channel I was watching the show on didn't pick up season 2 so I had to wait way, way longer for it to appear on dvd to see the conclusion

Watching SGA when it originally aired, this was the episode where Shepherd clicked for me and he moved up to classic SG1 team level.

18:50 a lot of people have asked why SGA doesn't have Zats. It's just a no brainer to have, and in SG1 they have hundreds of those, so it was always a question why SGA wasn't using those. The answer is obviously that the studio wanted to keep SG1 and SGA separate from one another. SGA had its own enemies and weapons and only sometimes mentioned SG1 and same went for SG1 with SGA.

And its for the best. I personal prefer a multi series verse to have light mentoin and light crossovers with each other. And not needing to watch the others to understand the show your watching. As opposed to you need to watch this other show or 3 to fully under whats happening in this show. That shit i find annoying.

There are so many incredible 3x parters in Stargate that aren't technically 3x parters; Torment of Tantalus, Thor's Chariot and Fifth Race as the best example. The Siege I - III is at the top for me, it's still brilliant almost 20 years on.

Those 3 episodes aren't connected except by permanent lore of the series. That's why they're not a 3 parter. By that logic all 50 episodes featuring the Asgard are a 50 parter.

I think my favourite scene in all of Stargete is when they just light the city up with flares and gunfire. This is such an amazing episode and 3 parter. Oh, how i wish i could watch these episodes on a cinama screen. It would be awesome

SUCH a badass episode! They introduce a new military badass and for a wonderful, he's not a complete tool- and he brought railguns! Very thoughtful of him. This starts the "BIG" Atlantis stuff- fate of the galaxy kinda things.

Honestly I've always found it a little weird they didn't bring any zats with them. They stun, kill AND disintegrate things, and they don't need reloading. And I mean really, those and staff weapons are found damn near everywhere in mass.

In the scene where McKay and Zelenka are complaining about the military needing them, the other person standing nearby with the black hair and the pony tail is the Get In The Gate contest winner. Got to be an extra in this episode and Moebius pt 2!

The Siege part 2 is pretty amazing. Sheppard confronting the Colonel and directly disobeying an order to his face is something even O'Neill didn't dare doing. And then later on we have a throwback to when Sheppard shot his superior officer to ease his pain and to make sure the enemy wasn't able to gather more intel... And the Colonel being rightfully pissed at him for it. But then the battle itself, so much stuff happening, and we're hopeful that the team is going to be able to hold them off, but even with all these reinforcements it's just not enough. And then we also get a throwback to the Geni having nukes and getting those. And then Sheppard goes for a suicide mission. Only complaint I have is that the cliff hanger with Ford was a little weird. The Wraith just sitting there waiting until Ford ordered to start shooting. The Siege part 3 is gonna be epic too.
