I was a pianist many years ago. The first hymn that I played in church was “Fairest Lord Jesus.” My husband and I will be married for 25 years in January 2023. The night that we got married, we had the church choir circle around us as they sang this beautiful hymn as well as “Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee God of Glory.”

My late dad used to take me with to church since I was 2...i enrolled in the Sunday school those days it was only for children that had started school. There I was amongst all the "big children" totally oblivious to the fact I shld not be there. Bless them all they accepted me. I learned all the hymns off by heart before I could read. I used to pretend I cld read and also hold the hymnal! Happy memories. Thank you!

Beautifully played and sung. But I'm german and I have to say the german lyrics are a tad better than the english translation 😄 But in general, the english translations of german hymns are better than the german translations of english hymns. Regardless of that, to God alone be all the glory!
